It's for hookahs with multiple hose ports, so someone doesn't have to keep their thumb over the hose tip when not sucking on the hookah. Can't say I've heard good things about them though, they make the draw pretty tight.

i can draw fine on them, but i have trouble blowing smoke rings. can't really figure out why. it's not worth it, imo. it's easy enough to just cover the hole with your thumb.

The "auto-seal" has a built-in ball bearing that will plug up the hole when not in use. The other system doesnt have the ball bearing so you have to plug the hose or port. I suggest just using a single hose hookah anyway.

honestly, i have not the vaguest idea. maybe it is the draw that the smoke isn't thick enough for me to blow smoke rings, but i recently bought a MYA Dionysus 2 hose. had the autoseal in for a week and my rings went to shit. took it out of one hose, used the other as a blowoff, and they're back to what they used to be. probably a placebo effect, and i'm just crazy.

99% of auto seals are crap, there is plenty of ways to make one that works but no one makes them in a way like that.

it is a check valve / one way valve. liquid/gas goes one way and not the other

honostly Auto Seals are actually great when you do have multiple people because at times I find myself being greedy with the hookah lol. if you guys are worried about draw issues just unscrew the screw, take out the bearing and replace it with an Airsoft BB .

I have auto seal for when i have like 4 ppl smoking and i think its great, I notice no negative effects as long as the valves are clean. Of course its not 100% as good as a single hose, but when its 4 ppl all trying to smoke and talk and b.s. its a big time saver.

I like the Mya auto-seal system. The one problem with an Egyptian or Syrian Auto-Seal is that you cannot scrub off the ball bearing. You can wash it off, sure, and it works well for awhile, but not long after you can't even go near your hookah without smelling the nauseating build up of rust and shisha residue.

In the Mya autoseal, you can take the bearing out.

Ohh, and I get a perfectly OK draw, but me saying that is different than most other people on the forum saying that; they use very thick gauge hoses, I prefer a tighter draw.

I have a 3 hose syrian chiller with the autoseal, and it does work well for having all the hoses going, but I rarely ever do. I have the bearings all taken out, 2 hose plugs inserted, and I even drilled out a hose adapter, to get rid of the "screen" in it, so its just a big hole.

Now, unless you do what I did, and drill out an adapter, then you won't notice too much of a difference with the BB in or not. Sure every little bit helps, but boreing out the adapter makes a HUGE difference.. I have a normal one still to swap out when I want to convert back to multiple hoses.

I agree with all of you, the auto seals are crap. What needs to be done is a quick thumb release. Those are pretty easy to make at an opening.

I just smoked out of a hookah that had one a few days ago. It was a 3 hose SSC Sub Zero. We were using the standard leather hoses until I got sick of it and started using my nammor hose for myself. The pull was perfect I don’t have any complaints.

Now I would never purchase a multi hose hookah for myself but if you really think you need one then one with an auto seal is not a bad idea. Really the only complaint I have is that it is impossible to purge.

In my opinion, they can be a little bit more trouble than what they are worth. It's great to put auto-seal hose adapters on my hookah at parties and stuff so I don't have to remind less experienced smokers to plug their hose. However, myself and my friends who smoke regularly find that auto-seal valves tend to restrict airflow slightly and make a pull slightly tougher. In addition, you HAVE to keep the ball bearing inside of these things clean (which is sometimes hard to accomplish without disassembling it) or else they will gunk up and you won't be able to smoke through them until you do. You can still clear your hookah as long as all the valves aren't auto-seal (have at least one "open" valve).
