either a torch or just get the $10 coil from walgreens, best way to spend $10. alternatively i think i just read recently of somebody using their glass top stove with no problems maybe try a search for "glass top"

yeah gas stoves take a while because you have to almost hold it there. the $10 coil will be easy since you don't have to hold it but they heat up slow and will take just as long as a gas stove. so you could try blowing on the coal to help it along or get a metal screen and put it over the stove top and try lighting the coal through it, or get a little torch.

i hate trying to light coals over my friend's houses, they all seem to have gas stoves

i have a gas stove, i just went for the burner. turn it on and let it heat up while i clean/change water , put the coals on, go pack the bowl, wait a few mins and it's good to go. the timing usually works out pretty well

use a shallow pan, put them in there, put them on the glass top stove. you could put them on the gas stove with a windcover on top.

but the best way, no questions asked, is get the 10 dollar stove from walgreens. it was $6 when i got it, because of a rebate.

i agree with the electric coil... but if you have no other ways... keep using the grill but make sure its basically on the flame or a torch which would take some time lol

Do not light coals on a glass top stove...
Use a mini torch or something equal to it... like a butane lighter, those oven stoves of camping, etc, etc...
It sounds like if you used QL coals, your burdens would be put to rest...

you basically need a coil burner or a gas stove of some sort, a torch works but ive notice lights the out sides before penetrating the heat well.

usually natural wood burns a bit faster than the coco coals or the compressed natural coals so maybe just get a little fire pit and smoke out side and put your coals on the edge to get going. more involved ya, but a good excuse for a fire... reminds me i need to get a 55 gal drum to make a burn barrel if im going to be home much this summer

the coil burner is definitely worth the $10...the coals heat alot quicker using the coil burner as well.
