Default OK...the Buzz

OK...I admit to being relatively new to the world of Hookah, but I see in this forum that the word "Buzz" is used to describe the effects of certain Shisha.

Now, I have sampled a few different brands, and I am not quite sure what is meant by the term "Buzz" as it relates to Shisha.

Do not get me wrong, I am not ignorant and I DO know what a "Buzz" is. However, I have not experienced that with any of the Shisha I have tried.

Are some folks getting "buzzed" do to inhaling to rapidly, hence causing a hyperventilation gas shift? Me not knowing.

Please, in all seriousness, describe for me what I clearly am missing.

Thanks....

It is possible to obtain a buzz from unwashed shisha, Nakhla is the one I usually get buzzed from. Its a short buzz generally speaking. I guess there are ways to make shisha buzz you as you stated the hyperventilation shift but traditionally speaking the buzz here is from unwashed shisha most of the time.

Buzz could mean many things.you could get Headaches, light-headedness, nausea and other effects from shisha generally if you are not used to it but its most common with unwashed shisha (eg. nakhla) and sometime unavoidable if you inhale deeply and too fast.

hehe, Sounds like Bill Clinton..."errrr, define Buzz..... errrrr." I am almost sure that folks that refer to "The Buzz" are expressing what they feel compared to being intoxicated on alcohol. Usually, at least what/whom I have been exposed to, people tend to want the "Buzz." I am not sure I have heard many people say, "hey...lets go get nauseated..." or, "Darn, I wish this stuff would give me a headache...."

But, from my perspective, I have yet to feel anything remotely "buzz-like" while smoking Shisha from the Hookah. I am sure others are fully capable of experiencing some side effects from anything....just haven't experienced anything like that thus far....

Not everyone will feel a buzz, those that do may only get it once or twice when smoking a new brand. Do you smoke cigs? Smokers (me) rarely get the buzz, cause we are ready are used to the nicotine in the tobacco.

That makes sense to a point. Yes I smoke cigarettes. But, when Shisha is being rated...reviewed....and a "Buzz" is reported...it could be a misnomer... For example... I would say with reasonable surity that 100% of the people who have smoked Cannabis, would experience a "Buzz" if they truly, unlike a former president, inhaled. There is vitually no avoiding that end result. whether you smoke cigarettes or not...doesn't matter in that case.

I guess when I first started smoking cigarettes, I did get "dizzy" occasionally, but I would not classify that as getting a "Buzz" on.

Perhaps I am just splitting to fine a hair here.

No biggie...just wondered if I weas missing something.

Thanks for the response.

Something a chemistry teacher told me one time was that you are geting a lack of O2 to your lungs and therefore you feel lightheaded.

Actually you are displacing Oxygen with CO and CO has a lot more affinity for our Hemoglobin and readily attaches to our red blood cells. That travels to the brain, does some destruction to the brain cells and hence, causes the feeling.

It is distinctly the nicotine, I have gotten the exact same buzz from a cig... even though everyone says you can't get a buzz from cigs...

I find that I don't really get a buzz from washed shisha like I used to... AF doesn't buzz me at all anymore...

I usually just smoke and drink at the same time and the shisha enhances the alcohol effect

Have you tried any Nakhla yet? That always gives me a buzz!

There is a lot of good information above, about hyperventilating, CO2, washed/unwashed, etc. So I won't go into all of that. But if you are looking for something with a nicotine buzz, try some Nakhla. That always gives me a buzz, if I smoke and try to blow Os with that brand.

Cheers!

Nakhla or Al Waha - the two main "buzzers" that I smoke. Al Waha's buzz is more of a sleepy mellow chill-out buzz than Nakhla - that can floor you in some cases.
