Default CH natural coals problem

So guys... I ordered 2 boxes ch naturals and 1 ch qls. The quicklights were fantastic, they worked as they supposed to...

But with the naturals i have a big problem.... No matter how much time i leave them on the gas stove... always the up and down part is black, especially the one that is down... I leave them 10 minutes on the stove, the same. 15 the same... What should i do? I dont have a coil burner to see if this would help..

The thing is that if i leave them 10 minutes on gas stove and then blow them on both sides, its all turning to red hot but immediatly when i stop the 2 sides goes black again.

gas stoves suck

its 8.99 for a coil burner

if you don't want to get a new burner get a fan and put it next to the stove.

Are you guys reading what he's saying?

I think he's experiencing what coconut coals do. CH naturals do this, coconaras do (but not as noticeable i dont think).

Its just like when u put them on the bowl, the bottom side will turn black. Maybe the material is just really temperature dependent. But i know what the original poster means, i just accepted it. Make sure the core of the coal is red and i go with it.

By the way, try using a windcover or something else on the stove to help speed heating times.

Gas stoves hardly work for natural coals. CH coals are extremely dense and larger than average square coals, so they tend to take longer to light.

You need and electric coil stove, usually they sell for 20 bucks or less.

I just ordered an electric single burner coil from walgreens.com. It was about 16 dollars shipped so not too bad at all!

go get the 10 dollar walgreens coil burner that 50% of hookahpro has, then come back and tell us how it is. gas stoves are terrible for lighting coals.

I had the same problem. You got a bad batch. I lighted them on a coil burner and no matter how long I left them on the one side always turned black. John said he would help me out and send me a free box eventually. Let him know, he'll work something out for you.

some boxes are bad, a few of you have got them, same thing go for most "natural" products of any kind. I use a gas stove as you can see for my latest youtube vid and it works all the time. It's a lot more fire than an indoor stove and not everyone has one of those, so yes a coil burner is the best. for the OP did you get the results when you first opened the box or did it happen after you have been using them for awhile?

um, this is perfectly normal..

since the bottom of the coal is touching the bowl/stove it doesnt "breath" flip it and you get air on it while you smoke. Every Coco coal ive tried works like this, you need to flip them every 5-10mins so they keep constant heat, sure you can smoke them on one side and keep a wind cover on so you get constant heat around the whole coal or smoke like never before :P

best tip is to flip them ever 5-10mins.

yeah flip frequently and make sure it's in the right position with the flame. Honestly though, I'd suggest a single coil burner. Gas is just too much of a pain on indoor stoves.

if it turned red, then ill smoke it, when i inhale it turns red again even if it is black, the airflow gets it going!
