Default Toning down the flavor?

We all know how Nakhla is very strong when it comes to flavors. and Today my friend couldnt stand Nakhla Strawberry or lemon too much without coughing (hes an occasional hookah smoker). is there anyway to tone down the power of the taste? I heard using alot of ice works but i have yet to try it....and my icemaker is out of ice

hmm doesnt sound like the taste would make you cough especially on those flavours, what bowl and setup?.

Some people let it air out a bit to tone down the flavour (pixels) but that was for the VERY strong flavours like earl gray and cardamom. Ive never had this problem.

yup letting it air out will weaken the flavor
but why would strong flavors make you cough?

perhaps get a 50g of hookah hookah and soak it in water for 24hrs. Then ring it out, then do it again. After that, add a little honey and glycerine to it and BOOM, unflavored shisha. Then next time you pack your bowl of Nakhla, make sure that the top layer on the bowl is the HH mix and have your Nakhla underneath it. It would work great.

or just mix it with some mint. Mint is a strong flavor, but it will cover up the strongness of the Nakhla and it might be a little more soothing.

or add honey to it

I highly doubt the flavour is making them cough.

Maybe you have an old batch that is rather dry.

yea, im smoking some Nakhla DA with Nakhla Mint right now because the normal flavor of DA is a little too much for me. The mint doesn't calm down the flavor, but it helps cover it up. As far as ice goes, i really dont notice that much of a decrease in flavor, but it might help a little because the smoke is cooler, thus causing less irritation to the throat. If you really want to take it to the extreme, use lots of ice and then put some salt in the base, it allows the water cool below 32* and it might be even cooler and less irritable.

Usually when I'm with my friends and I use the same ammount of coals that I use when I smoke alone we have the same problem. Because when i smoke alone, lets say i take 3 puffs in every minute, but my friends take just 1 or 2. Because of this when they have the hose, the heat, that normally works fine for me is becoming too much (because of the less pulls) and the flavor is becoming too strong / little bit harsh.

That's why i said to try to use less heat. Maybe it'll help to you. I think it worth a try.

Hmm that's odd. When smoking Nakhla lemon or strawberry the flavour should be light. I'd say it was too much heat, but it also could be too little heat. No doubt, sometimes when I smoke Mandarin and I have too little heat it will make me cough on the exhale. Keep trying and see what's up

This has happened to me with Nakhla Sweet Melon. Ive had great sessions with friends' shisha, but when i picked up my own box of SM, it was terrible. The flavor wasn't that great cool cantalope, rather an overpowering chemical melon taste. Also, im not sure if it was too much bad flavor, or something else was wrong with the shisha, but i could never get it to smoke right. Whether i was blowing out huge clouds or tiny whisps of smoke, with half a ql or two whole ones, there was always a bad tickle/choking feeling in the back of my throat. Although it doenst happen often, i think we just got some bad batches.
