see ive heard both arguments on the holes all the way down, one says all the way down so it smokes evenly yet the other side says it gives uneven heat pockets leading to issues, i have good success w/o holes all the way down since the juice doesnt get stuck up in the holes and char them shut, both ways i start to get a char taste during the 2nd round a bit and usually a good amount by the 3rd, maybe if i let it sit a bit before i recoal the juice would equalize better

i press it down enough with my fingers that the juice starts to press out a touch (when i stop pressing the juice goes back in), much lighter than that and i get too much tangiers tickle

Is it a science experiment or a bowl of shisha tobacco?

That true but an uneven burn on a cigar doesn't completely change the flavor and force you to throw it away.

ya i give ya that.

no matter what people say tangiers is a harder tobacco to smoke than other tobaccos and it has more issues, some people might never get the issues but over all they are there and it really cant be argued.

Humidity shock does mute the flavorings with the underlying molasses coming through (Kalutika, you were right on this). Which is why some people get the soy/bbq sauce flavor. This issue has been beat to death for sure, but the only thing I want to add is that people should be acclimating where they smoke (i.e. inside if they smoke inside, outside if they smoke outside).

Thanks man. And I agree entirely. I just got some horchata, maraschino cherry and lemon blossom that I am anxious to try. The problem, as is always the case, is that I am in MA and the humidity is so damn wacky. Raining again today too.
