Default Camping Stove

Anyone use a camping stove to light their coals?

I would be using it for coconara coals.

I think hookah-shisha sells something similar to this, its run off butane right? It would definitely work.

i dont but i have seen people do it and have suggested it over using a blow torch.

it should work fine, you just might need to play with the way to put the coals on it and what heat setting you use

I use a camping stove to light my cocobricos which are very similar to coconaras. It works fines, takes about 6-7 minutes maybe. Flip them half way through. Works out quite expensive if you smoke a lot because 4 cans of butane cost 8 ($13ish) which I think is more than it would cost in electricity to power a coil heater for the same amount of time but it certainly does the job.

If u want to use it in your room, and you live in the US, than i would suggest to get a single coil burner instead. It works great, and you don't have to hassle with gas-cans.

Do not use a Camping stove in your room. I got sick last time i did that, and i had a window open too. My mom was using my coil burner so i ran into the garage and pulled that camping burner out and It was bad. I think i got some sort of CO poisoning, i mean, yes some CO comes off of the coals, but i think CO is one of the by products from butane or propane when it burns. You can try it if you'd like, but a single coil burner is much better.

true, some propane powered stuff has bascially catalytic converters or burns in a way that is ok (there are some propane heaters you can use in a tent that are fine but yes you can get CO from them

would this sort of thing work? Can't find single coils for sale in the UK. Don't know if they are even available over here because of different power raitings etc.

I found on that is available in the UK

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikai-Japan-...706507&sr=8-31

The flat ones wont work well because there is no air getting to the coal. For the coal to get red hot, it needs oxygen. On of these will let it get air underneath it, cooking it faster and more thoroughly. Also, the surface area of the heating element touching the coal is nil, so there may be a spec of black on it once the coal is lit, but the heat from the rest of the coal will turn it red once its exposed to oxygen.
