Default Mya Imitations

This may sound stupid but I've heard of it...

Hey guys...how can I tell that a MYA QT is an authentic MYA QT?? Cause I've heard about some cheap ass fakes that try to be sold as MYAs when they are not. (I've been told that most of this happenns at local tobbacco shops where people are not well informed)

So is there like a special characteristic or feature that stand out in legitimita MYA QTs...

Well...I have two versions of the QT, one is the normal QT stem...and one is actually the "chic" stem. Both stems were stamped MYA on the heart area and both had MYA stamped on the tray as well.

I imagine it would be easy to tell a fake by the weight of the stem and the hose adapters. In my experience mya hose adapters are larger than most generic ones and mya stems are very heavy and solid.

now that we're on the subject. What about bambinos? Does mya stamp it on teh stem and tray? I forgot plus my bambino is over at my friend's house so I can't check. Shame if it turned out to be a knockoff.

My Bambino is stamped on the bowl and the tray, the stem has nothing on it, the vase has a "Made in China" sticker on the bottom.

Yep ive seen fakes of both the QT and bambino, and they look very similar if not the exact same as the original one, i wouldnt have been able to tell the difference if they had stamped it as well

The Qt's even come in the same bird cage as the original

Best advice is look out for stamps on the stem and bowl, the bowl always has one

hmmm mine has the mad in china stickers on vase and stem area ... on the tray when i looked at it closer ... there is a very faint stamping for MYA ... almost couldn't see it ... so i guess it is legit ... either way it smokes nicely and i wouldn't think that the vendor i got it from would sell an imitation as a Mya..

The MYA QT should be stamped with the MYA name and also the hose should say MYA on them. The QT is also a lot heavier stem then any of the copies out there. We have both the original MYA QT and the other version in our store and there is a big difference in weight. Would definitely recommend spending the $5-$10 more for the original QT.

I had an older mya that did not have it stamped on the stem....and wasnt on the tray, but it was on the disc that connects to the stem, that the tray sits on....

i forgot all about the hose having Mya on it doh! ...

yet to find a stamping on the stem .. but it is pretty freakin heavy for it's size ... i do not doubt that mine is a real one ... just was curious about finding the stampings ... as i haven't found em yet on all peices.
