What is a better foil pattern to you guys, alot of little tiny holes, or a few big holes

I dont mean BIG holes I mostly mean the normal way everyone pokes there holes, and by tiny I mean making a hole with the finest sewing needle point and making a whole bunch of holes with that.

Holes with a toothpick, there the best because most of the time the ash doesn't fall down them and there the best when your taking drags on the hookah. Needle holes are to small and I reckon there no good, and it takes ages like that as well.

I usually do a mix between the two but it is somewhat important to consider the type of heat and bowl you will be using.

i use a push-pin and barely press it so the hole is as if i've use a seamstress needle, i think my biggest problem is not being able to wrap a bowl tight without screwing up the foil

Needle holes, it doesnt effect my draw what so ever, no ash ever gets in my bowl, and despite what the poster above me says, it doesnt take much, if any longer to set up. you dont hav eot be nearly as careful on yoru distancing... just go to town poking away. I started this method because that is how the folks at SSC recommend you st up HH and HF tobacco, and then i tried it with other brands and it works just as well.

I recommend it expecially to those who use coconut coals, as they tend to hav ebigger, hotter chunks of ash fall off and it really messed with my sessions.

i always use normal holes, three 8x8 holed squares, one for each coal, with a center hole, 6 holes around the center hole and 2 on the outer rim between each square, works great with 3 easy lites or square-ish coals that aren't massive

I use a saftey pin. I always have at least two on my keychain. As for pattern, just a spiral. Simple enough, starting from the outside going inwards, and if there are any big gaps I go back and punch another hole there. Works fairly well with vortex or phunnel bowls as well as standard bowls along with most brands of shisha and not much ash falls through.

I use a skewer lol, but I don't think it matters too much as long as you have a tight seal on the foil and don't massacre the surface the coal sits on lol. I am one for the 3 ring method and that works fine

I use whatever I can find...but I always lose my needles and safety pins...so I usually end up with large holes from the tong poker. But I think needle holes work better...

Mix of both depends on the tobacco, tangiers AF use big holes, starbuzz hh/hf use tiny holes

honestly i am not convinced hole patterns/size matters much, its more the amount of air flow you get over all. eric at tangiers supposedly poked holes on one side of a bowl and none in the other and there was no difference at all other than there was only half of the bowl that was covered in ash.

that being said i use a hole patter out of habit, 16-12-8-1 in rings with a tooth pick but not all the way in.

I use darts. Sometimes I use the metal darts you use to throw at a dart board, sometimes I use blow gun darts

Both are pretty good, I've found smaller holes are normally better.

Bigger holes = less heat kept inside, which will lead to less burnt tobacco. Of course when you do bigger holes you should space them out more.

The way I usually poke my holes is tooth pick size with about 4 rings starting from the inside and working towards the center.
