Default Heavy Duty = Heavy Strength??

Hey, just a question...is Heavy Duty Foil the same as Heavy Strength Foil? because the one I currently have at home says Heavy Strength so I wanna know if they are equal so I don't go and spend money in something I might probably have already.

Thanks!

nope. heavy duty and heavy strength are different.

heavy strength is better. it's like a piece of sheet metal thick...

yea mine says heavy strength and I use only 1 layer and it's a kind of trial and error thing. If one layer isn't working for the shisha you are smoking then step up to two layers. I had to fiddle with my foil setup for the first 5 bowls of my first hookah before I got it to where I like it.

Getting the Foil right is what exactly?? Preventing the shisha from burning so I can get long sessions? Whats the average of time a bowl should last??

Thanks

depends on what type of bowl you use. i get like 1 1/2 from a regular bowl, and 2 - 2 1/2 with a medium phunnel.

The foil is about heating up the shisha but not burning it and different strengths of foil can affect heat managment you might get too much heat from less foil thus burning the shisha or over heating it causing harsh smoke. Too much foil and you'll need more coals to get the bowl going or it'll take forever to heat up.

For instance when I smoke Starbuzz I'll use 1 layer of foil with 1.5 coals on a small Mya bowl, because the bowl is smaller and will heat up quicker plus Starbuzz can be a real wet shisha therfore I feel I can deal with a little more heat to keep to wet shisha going strong. But with my hookah-hookah Irish Creme I use two layers of foil and 1 Golden coal QL because my HH is a little on the dryer side thus I can burn it easier.

I hope I could help a little my point is that different shisha might require different setups to get the most out of your session. My Mya small bowl lasts around 45 min my Tangiers small phunnel I can get 1-1.5 hours out of a session on my little baby bambino. Hookah can sometimes seem situational as to how it smokes and the session length, what I get out of one bowl someone else might have a different length. But thanks to Hookahpro.com there is such a wealth of knowledge you're bound to find your perfect setup. Trust my original noobness, when I first started smoking hookah I used to press my QL's down hard on my shisha to make sure it started "Cooking" properly...... man I've come a long way.

You really just dont want the foil to sag. using Heavy foil may help that.

Your foil thickness and strength will not affect your session if you setup your hookah and tend to it as that particular type of foil calls for.

thicker stuff doesnt sag so much, thats why people go with it.

if your tobacco is burning, use less tobacco (if its touching the foil) or use less heat. simple as that.

BUT WAIT!!

I thought there was a magical change happening when I use 2 layers vs 1 layer of normal or 3 layers of hd - 1 layer of normal with 1 layer of hd on top of the other layers of normal. if you do that though use the quasi-circle pattern vs the cyclone square hole pattern but sometimes the super pin hole pattern or maybe the oval-deluxe toothpick pattern!

Seriously people, dont worry about it.

Honestly explaining what the super pinhole pattern would do to your bowl is like explaining how to use the three shells, we all know, its sort of below us all.

I kept burning my shisha even though I was using HD foil and regardless of which bowl I was using, how many coals I was using, and which shisha I was using. Finally tried using two layers of it AND I now gently press the two layers on the bowl to make an imprint of the top of the bowl then set the foil on a *** holder to poke the holes. Then I wrap it over the bowl. This has kept the foil taut very nicely and I'm not burning my shisha anymore. Yea!

I use single layers of regular Reynolds foil. I do occasionally use heavy duty when I smoke Tangiers but not with anything else. It's more of a preference thing as I prefer the regular foil because it's what I'm more accustomed to so heat management is easier for me.

edit: Oi, I should have read the OP again before posting regular vs HD opinions. To my knowledge Reynold's Heavy Strength = Heavy Duty. They also have a Super Strength foil which is their strongest foil.

from what i heard they stopped making heavy duty and renamed it heavy strength (its a tiny bit thinner) and super strength (tiny bit thicker).

i thought i knew why but may have forgotten.

i used HD / HS exclusively till this weekend and i had to use regular foil...didn't notice much of a difference.
