i dont see how ice is even an advantage here........ but it is really just aesthetics and stability really. and the stability also has a lot to do with shape...

actually larger bases take longer to get warm from the hot air coming down the stem, so you should be able to get longer sessions out of a larger base, but most people really don't notice the diff... I myself only notice if Im smoking outdoors because lets face it florida is still in the 80's in the middle of winter... but inside the smaller base doesn't make much diff...

I love having a large base. You can have ice in it the whole session without all of it melting. It also is fun for making rather large concoctions of fruits and such in there. But i guess it uses more than a normal base so you might be wasting a bit. But ive also noticed that you can smoke more from one hookah without replacing the water. In my small egyptian, i can only go one session and then i replace it, otherwise you can taste the water in there. But with my large hookah, i can go two, or three sessions and the ghosting from the water is very minimal.

Also, it makes your hookah larger. A couple inches you mean a BIG difference

You know where that comments is eventually going to end up right? LOL

The larger bell style vase seems to have great stability.

the biggest thing i see is that a larger vase will have more space above the bottom of the down stem so there is more area to hold smoke and an easier pull ( basic hydraulics since you have less negative psi that pulls on more area). other than that stable and just sexy
