it has a learning curve for sure, i wont argue that, some people have issues with it and never get it to work, others never have an issue with it

2 opposite from each other on the edge but there wasn't enough smoke so I got them to fit between the rim and the outside of the funnel.

I usually don't have them fully over the moassel portion until later in coal life. Try keeping them partially on the rim and let it come up in temperature.

I would recommend the lucid line
Horchata, Orange Soda, and Tasty Peach

ya either waiting for it to heat up more or adding another coal and hanging them off might have been better i also dont usually put them in the far either
