im the same way i have spent my fare share of time on a wheel and if i could a afford a wheel and kilns i would be making my own bowls and bases for the forum. the easiest way would be a slip form. if you want to try the wheel i would try i upside down vase or make a vase the normal way. then let it dry cut it and then make the inner bowl part thingy then sratch and score it together. so your doing a two piece deal.

EDIT: and don't to forget to make sure you make room for it shrinking (why do i feel like thats making it onto the out of context thread)

sounds really cool. This means you could make like a giant phunnel bowl. that would be sweet. Also one thing to worry about that the phunnel height is flush will the edges of the bowl or even a little bit below the rim.

Darn I was hoping you were going to see how far you could throw a phunnel through the air.

I am pretty sure there is no way anybody could ever argue a valid reason for needing a GIANT phunnel, when a large funnel lasts like 300 hours anyways.

I never use my large really, only when i want to get rid of shisha i suppose. Also make sure the center spire well below the rim.. not flush, as someone has said already.

It's more artistic that way. You can all it modern art and get displayed in a museum.

You should use a side arm and put a curve on it.To get that extra spin you need to rub a little starbuzz on the rim.

Oooh. I like it. I'd say maybe some JMs. a bit more like sandy mud in texture.

I would thow the bowl first let it dry alittle till it can suport alittle bit of presure, then flip it and make the stem... then flip it once more when that can suport itself and finish any details , it would be a pain to try to make it in one straight shot... I wish I could offord a wheel , it would make life so much easier... I make everything completely free hand and it takes forever.

there was some one i saw somewhere that made one from scratch and i think they just threw it in one shot.

if you are going to try and make one though i would try to make one about as wide as a large but 1/2-2/3 the depth of a small and see how it works out since there is always so much tobacco untouched in the bottom
