Default problem with new deep bowl

Hey
I have some problems with my new bowl i bought today. It's very deep, but not too wide in diameter (5 cm/2 inches). It's a tall one, i can barely put my windcover on it. It has 5 smaller holes in it. It's kinda lightweight. I had some bowls and this sure looks like a very good one. But guess what. I packed it twice today, and both times the smoke was very harsh. First, i packed it normally with perfect amount of tobacco (Al Waha Bahraini), put some medium holes on it and a Cocobrico coal (1 is enough for an hour). Did everything as i did before, the body was a bit more than an inch inside the water. The smoke was harsh. Tried 2 kinds of windcover, put some more holes on, and nothing. Oh, and i dropped some glycerine on it too.
Second time i used Al Waha Grape, a bit less than before, thought the coal was too close or something. Put more water in the base, more holes. It was good for like 1/2 min then harsh again.
Any ideas why is it harsh? Is it just because the bowl is new or something? Or should i put bigger holes on it? Or smaller ones? I don't want to waste more time and tobacco. I can try putting ice in the water, but cmon.. It shouldn't need ice.
My hookah is 90cm tall, long hose, so smoke travels long. Still it's harsh.

I believe you have a Mya bowl... From my experience they are horrible.

Recommendations : If shisha like that works well in other bowls, then thats fine. I've had problems with AW... But make sure the shisha isn't touching the foil & that in that kind of bowl the shisha isn't packed down... Also make sure the coal(s) is(are) fully lit & the holes are tiny

Anyone using a MYA bowl? How do you prepare it? I'm sure it CAN be good. It can hold a big amount of tobacco and i'd like to use it for longer sessions.

My Mya bowl works great. Pack it lightly and set up two coco's staring each other down from across the bowl. Just start the coals on the outside and work your way in. Only thing is doing that prevents burning, but starts the bowl really slow. If you watch it carefully you can slide a coal to the center to get it started, but don't burn it.

I don't really find it any harder to use than my regular egyptians.

With the bowl i use now, i can simply put it in the center, then wait 5 mins and start smoking. Never burns. I'll try what you've said.

ya the mya bowls are hit and miss. my friends mya bowl seems to work fine, 2 rounds of coals no problem... my mya bowl is a turdmuffin. it just gave a horrid taste to me yet same set up with a mod bowl was fine.

standard egyptian bowls, mod bowls, vortex and even a phunnel seems to all work pretty well consistently where as the myas just some times wont
