Default Polishing Hookah

I got some Brasso and want to polish both my Nour and my KM Tri Metal. Is it ok to use the Brasso on the steel part of my Tri Metal? Also is it ok to polish the downstem on my hookahs?

Yes, i use brasso on my Brass syrian, and my generic egyptian. Also, I always thought that the downstem is made out of a different material because its so much darker. Well, i polished it real good and come to find out that it is shiny gold brass like the rest of the stem.

I use a silver polish on the silver-colored parts of my hookahs (they are not made of silver). I like the shine, even though it does not make the smoking experience any different. I clean the interior parts, but I never thought about polishing the brass stem, or anything else. Maybe I can try it.

Is it dangerous to polish the downstem?

Potentially hazardous if the downstem isn't cleaned well immediately afterward. Typically, the water used in cleaning the downstem will cause it to tarnish faster anyways. Kinda redundant.

Essentially, if any Brasso/cleaner were left behind on the stem, it would dissolve into the water and remnants be pulled in through the smoke.

Never used brasso, I maybe polish my Km every 6 months and I just use baking soda and lemon juice and that works fine for me. Plus I dont have to worry about getting any down the steam.

anything you use just make sure you clean it well to get all residue off, most stuff that is general metal polish is just abrasive and scratches off the dull metal where as some of the other ones that are more specific have chemical reactions but usually still are a bit abrasive.

if you dont want to have to clean it as often, after a good polishing and cleaning take some johnsons floor wax, rub it on, let sit 5 mins and buff off, it will keep it how you polished it for a very very long time (as long as you dont clean the out side hard core and buff the wax off)

Brasso is fine for steel. Just don't use it on silver, gold, antiques, thinly plated/coated metals, etc.
