Default Boiling a bowl

I need to boil my bowls but not sure about a few things.

1. Should the bowls be placed top down, on the side or bottom down?

2. Should the water completly cover the bowls?

3. Is it safe to boil ceramic and clay bowls together?

4. Can the grommets be boiled with the bowls?

5. Is it safe to boil the grommets?

Thanks in advance to every one for your advice.

I put my bowls top down when I boil them, covering them completely with water.

Dont see any reason why you couldnt boil both types at the same time, but dont boil the grommets. They could soften up to the point of remolding and ruin them, plus theres no real need to boil a grommet anyway.

i basically just put my bowls face down in a small po.t, fill it up with water, boil for 5 minutes, and take a 2 small pinches of baking soda and drop it in the water, one at a time.

make sure your p.ot is not filled up all the way and make sure you have a big gap of space on the top before you do this otherwise boiling water will go everywhere.

then after that i'll let it boil for 5 more minutes, then turn the heat off. from here you can do 2 things: you can wait for the water to cool to room temp, or you can slowly add cool water into and the p.ot until it's at room temp or lower.

Do you boil your bowls for cleanliness or just so they are moist?

Boil them to remove old smells and keep them clean.

This is the first time I have had to boil them, but I have heard it removes the old ghosts from them. I have one that has a real bothersome little poltergeist in it. LOL

This one might be obvious but if you boild you ceramic, don't get it into contact with anything cold.
A drastic temperature change will make it break...

Just throwing it in there in case you didn't know.... I don't want you to sit there with a broken bowl...

I was surprised to see how brown the water was after I boiled two of my bowls. It's definitely something to do every once in a while.
