Default Easiest method in break natural coals?

Can't seem to do it with my hands. It always just crumbles, instead of a sizable piece I'm looking for.

Also, lighting these things is weird. I don't get how I get it to redden all the way through. The coals just seems to burn from the outside into the inside until there's no more coal left.

After you heat them push on them with the tongs.

Smash it like watermelon smashing >=] jkjk
Just score it with a nice sharp knife and then breaking it by hand should be hella easier. Pocket knives with the teeth on them work pretty well =]

Meh, I give up naturals. I haven't even been able to start a session with one of these damn coals. I've wasted a good amount of tobacco trying to do so. Going back to Quicklights. =(

I'm guessing you tried to light them up using a torch lighter. That's no good way to treat your coals.

Throw them on an electric stove (coil style) and let them light up all the way to the center. Flip them if needed. Enjoy your delishus sessions.

No, I know how to light naturals. I own a stove. Just not an electric stove, I have a gas-powered one. And lighting the coals is a pain. Trust me, I've tried everything. Good thing my box of Abu Abdo was only 6 bucks.

it sounded to me like on your first post you misunderstood "heating all the way thru." Correct me if I'm wrong with my assumption, but are you trying to actually make it red thru to the center, or heat it till its just ashy all over/red on all parts of the surface?

otherwise, I just wrap them in paper towel and slam them on concrete for a while and it'll get me decently sized ones. lol

I try my best at heating them all the way through. Either way, it's a huge waste. On both my gas bills and hookah.

Well you only have to heat them so the surfaces are just ashy or red.. not like down to the core.
the coal does that by itself.. thats why the coal gets smaller as the sesh goes on.
I'd much rather use naturals over QL's any day.. but each to their own
