i think as you read the reviews you will find much disagreement.

i will tell you, if you have a hookah that bubbles hard, believe it or not, breaking up the bubbles into smaller bubbles gives you the feeling of a smoother flow, not necesarily easier, but smoother.

I've used them before, i have 2 at home, but i havn't used a heba in a few months

I don't think they make it eaiser to pull.I think they kill the flavor and give you less clouds as well.

Less flavor, maybe, if you water is extremely cold, Less clouds, hell no.

Diffusers break up the large bubbles in the water into smaller ones, the surface area of a smaller bubble has a chance to cool down much faster than a large bubble, giving you a thicker smoke.

Diffusers will increase resistance, increase cloud density, reduce noise, and possibly reduce flavor depending on what you're smoking and the temperature of the water.

from a chemical standpoint how could a diffuser reduce flavor?

if the pull is restricted by the width of the downstem, drilling holes in it (creating a diffuser in the metal essentially) will make the pull easier.

personally i like them depending on the hookah.

the flavor is reduced by the extra filtration.Or the more surface area the smoke contacts the water. The flavor is airborn small particals suspended in the smoke.

I do however like a diffuser for smaller hookahs to help with cooling. But for a large KM there a negative aplication

im going to have to disagree with your physics here and say flavor should not be reduced.

The reason its annoying on the KM is becuse you have to cut the rubber part to make it fit lol.

+1 to what PL said. The flavor is not affected imo, if anything its better. And I have several KM's with diffusers and its pretty easy to put a couple slits in the top of the diffuser to get it over the flair on the stem.

I have the small Heba diffuser on my Egyptian right now, the smoke is much smoother when I tried smoking without it. I plan on getting another one for my KM soon.

i guess it would depend on whether or not the flavoring were water soluble and at what temperature of water do they dissolve best in.

any extra wet brand (think layalina) has water soluble flavorings for sure. its diluted with tons of water. so smoking that with a diffuser may potentially get rid of the flavor (imo that would be a good thing...ewww layalina)

It'll make the initial pull smoother because of the surface area. When you pull on a non-diffused stem it you'll have the initial "chug" of the force for the pressure to equalize so if you have a larger bubble like in an diffused stem, that initial chug is broken up which requires less force. After that first part of the pull, the pull will be pretty similar regardless.
As far as less flavor, I don't personally notice much difference. But since the "smoke" is more like a vapor it might make sense that the diffusion with increased surface area would give more opportunity for the "moisture"(for lack of a better term) in the smoke would permeate into the water through osmosis, but once again I don't notice it. I just don't diffuse because the nicotine doesn't bother me.

Personally, I just use the diffuser to cut down on the rumble of my Temsah so I can watch movies / shows without annoying my friends while I smoke. I didn't notice much of a difference pre-diffuser use for pulls and flavor.

With the diffuser, I get the same flavor + same smoke + Headache + harder pull

To be honest, diffusers are crap and I don't think they really filter the smoke because you are getting the same amount of smoke. So, instead of 20 big bubbles, you get 100 small bubbles which will result in the same amount of smoke.

BTW, I got the Heba diffuser 4 weeks ago and used it only once.

You know what is funny, they make these diffusers in the middle east and nobody use them in that reigon for obvious reasons.

I got a free diffuser with an order of tobacco years ago. I used it twice, and gave up. My friends and I actually prefer the bubbly sound

(indeed in some parts, the pipe is called not nargile, not hookah, not shisha, but 'hubbly bubbly' *lol*)
