Default Al Fakher coconut coals----getting bad hookah sessions?

I was using coconara coals until i ran out and then my local shop only had al fakher coconut coals in so i thought i would give those a try and since then i have not had a pleasant hookah smoking session.

I use starbuzz tobacco and a small phunnel bowl and i have tried using 3 coals cause thats how many coconaras i used to use but its getting a horrible taste. I next tried only using 2 coals but then i wasnt getting enough smoke.

Anyone have any suggestions using al fakher coco coals and starbuzz tobacco?

thanks =)

I've never used them before but maybe 2 and a windcover? Just a thought.

I'm assuming these are the "easy light" coals, which means you don't need as many of them as you would with natural ones like Coconaras.

haha yeah they do say easy light but they also say 100% natural so i figured they would be the same as cocos but i guess not. i will try 2 again and then maybe a windcover if two isnt enough heat.

thanks for the responses

Oh I didn't realize they were quicklights. Yeah I learned that they give off a lot more heat the hard way haha. Good luck man!

they arent quicklights. i have to light them on the stove but they do say "easy light" on the box along with "100 natural" hookah coconut coals.

i trying two again will be my best bet and then hopefully just buy some cocos the next time they are in stock =)

some of the cheaper coals are packed a little bit looser than some of the better coals and dont always burn consistently. Did you notice alot of ash? How long did they last? ******* hookah coals are pretty good coconut coals to use if you can find them in the store.

Yessir, I almost made a similar thread about the AF Naturals. They just have a bad taste; there's no way to pussyfoot around it.

So let me be your reassurance. Find a different use for the coals like I will, I have some incense that requires coals to use them for. (The incense is interesting stuff, produces a TON of smoke and smell from the tiniest little bit.)

It's called "resin" incense if you're interested in that.

I used 3 coconaras on my funnel then when I bought my af hookah I got a free box of af coals and I also used 3 of those and it was the same to me. Except the af coals give off a slight taste.

I am going to try using only two coals tonight and see how that works out for me and i will share how it works.

i have only used coconaras besides these al fakher coals so if tonight doesnt work out im going to buy some new coals.

i think the store had lots of exotica coals. are those any good?

Does anyone want to suggest their favorite coals they use?
