Default quick lite coals?

Quick question, does anyone else get headaches from quick lite coals?
I have smoked these past 2 nights and gotten headaches after smoking, could this be from the coals or maybe something else. I drank plenty of water before, during and after smoking and also ate.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Joseph

yes. it can happen if the coal isnt lit all the way. It can be tricky. They have to be red all the way through. Naturals help solve this problem.

well it CAN be the chemicals from the quick lites but there could be a few other culprits.
it could also be the way you smoke, if you are/were anything like me when i first started smoking i was so excited about it and just loved it to such an extent that i was breathing pure smoke, stay with me now..
i know that sounded weird but i mean i was taking breaths inbetween.
it was many pulls in quick succession.
i found that if you take a few breaths or just not try to fill your lungs completely with smoke or on some occasions if you feel a headache just take some headache medicine i don't get one.
but i mostly use quick lites and headaches occur often with me so it's a possibility but im not quite exactly sure.
i don't claim to be either a hookah pro, no pun intended, nor a doctor.
but that's just my opinion for you.
it CAN be the culprit.

You have to wait until the ENTIRE outer layer burns. You'll be able to tell as the coal will be completely red. I know what you mean. When I first started smoking I could almost taste the coals because I just lit them and put them on. Not a good thing to do...haha

I smoked a bowl with a coal that wasn't fully lit, worst headache I had in while. I took an aspirin and it didn't help out a whole lot. I ended up sleeping it off, but it was terrible. ******* Hookah quick lights are amazing haven't had this problem yet.

I agree. Spend the extra few bucks. It's definitely worth it. Don't sacrifice quality for quantity.

ok, just got done smoking with the ch naturals, no headache at all, it seemed like they lasted longer than the QL's to. I waited until the QL's were completely lit, but not very long after they were completely ashed over i put them on, i'll try again tomorrow with the QL's and this time i will wait a few minutes to put them on and will light them in my backyard, i was lighting them before near an open window which could be the cause. thanks for all the tips, I love this forum, before it was just trial and error.

Cheers
Joseph

yeah i am def gonna start using naturals all the time now, they seem to last longer, have less ash, and can't taste anything. the QL's do have a very subtle taste to them, it's a shame cause i loved the convinience of the QL's but i can wait a few minutes for the naturals
