Default Flavour?

Greetings.

I recently received a KM hookah from ********** as well as some tobacco and coals.

I seem to be having some trouble getting any form of flavour from my tobacco. The tangiers I ordered has amazing flavour, overwhelming almost, but everything else I try seems to just yield flavourless smoke. Thick smoke, but flavourless.

I got a good amount of flavour from Al Fakher Double Apple, but that might just be because it is a very strong flavour to start with.

I have some ******* Hookah Naturals, and it's my first time using natural coals.

Help?

Well, it might be your coals. How many are you using? And how are you packing the bowl? What brand are you using? what kind of bowl? We need a little more information before we can be of assistance.

I've been using 3 coals per bowl. The bowl itself is the one that came with the hookah. Egyptian, about 5cm in diameter. Tobacco I've used is mostly Al Fakher, and also Nakhla Two Apples. I've been packing the bowl with the tobacco quite loose, up to, but not quite reaching foil. The holes poked in an even distribution across the entire surface of the bowl, with a toothpick, about 8mm from each other. The three coals placed on the outside of the bowl, evenly seperated.

Hope that helps.

keep in mind not all flavors will be strong, but it's absolutely flavorless? try using room temp water in the base.

Sounds like your doing everything about right. In fact, I would even say 3 coals is one too many for an Egyptian bowl. I ussually go w/2.

I'll try play around with water level a bit, and try two coals. The water I've been using is room temperature...

I'd say close to flavourless... there might be minute traces of flavour... but just a somewhat bitter, almost sugary taste, nothing resembling what the flavour should be. No fruity/spicy/whatever else it might be taste.

I've only had the hookah for a few days now, and the natural coals are completely new to me. So having to get used to the new things should be expected. But any acceleration you can provide in this regard will be much appreciated.

I'll let you all know what my findings are after trying the above mentioned.
