You can use either for any tobacco (pretty much)

I like the Vortex .. but that is just preference. I think it holds less tobacco and I like that it has a flat top for the foil to sit on.

I smoked Nakhla in my Tangiers bowl for the first time last night. I packed it in fairly tight, the way you would with Tangiers. It worked VERY well. Nice thick clouds and consistent flavor throughout the session.

you can smoke whatever ya want in it, i love them both but use my phunnel more cause the vortex(large) is just to much by myself.

Always a phunnel. The vortexes suck pretty hard.

lol i was thinking the same way,... to expensive for a bowl. so i found a deal which is like 45$ shipping included for 3 vortex, found 2 other friends that want one , so it came out to be 15$ for my vortex

I don't use Egyptian bowls any more. Unless I am smoking tombac I use vortexes, funnels and super chiefs exclusively. In my experience funnels work far better with a mod then without and everything tastes better in the bowls I use then in a normal type bowl.

+1 I love my Vortex! ... holds less tobacco than a small funnel and heats up nicely! I'll post up a video explaining the two.

.. but you can never go wrong with a good old regular Egyptian bowl!
