Default Hookah n00b having trouble with coals...

I just can't seem to get the damn things lit! I have a box of coconaras, and a BRAND NEW HOOKAH (Pics are coming soon on my intro thread), but no stove top to light them upon. I kinda guessed being such high quality, they'd be easier to light, but I guess coconaras aren't quick-lite?

Anywho, HALP. How the heck am I supposed to even smoke, if I can't keep a coal lit? If some of you hookah smokers out there function properly without a stovetop, share your secrets please!! ;O;

coco-naras are natural coals...they will never light with a lighter. you need to use a stove or a butane torch

Thirded.
The electric coil isn't the only way to do this, but it is the most efficient in my opinion. You can set the coals on the burner and go pack a bowl and set up the hookah while they're warming up.

Just one quick tip, I love the single coil burner but it's still not as "easy" to light them. Sure they beat the crap out of the other options but they still take a while. In the beginning when you think they are ready, most likely they are not lol. Just leave them for a while and do something for 10 or 15 min, or if you got hookah starving guests, get a hairdryer to speed things up but it will make a mess.

You could buy a single coil burner, its just like a stove top. They're like 8 bucks at Walgreens, or similar stores. You could also try to put them in the microwave.... I heard that works... Butane torches work too.

Just remember, fully lit is very important. If it's not red all over and ashing when you blow on it then wait longer or flip it onto the dark side.

REI has them I think or any camping store.
I personally would recommend it, it's more costly.

hahaha yeah don't put them in the microwave .. lol

Just make sure you fully light them. Check out my vid here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQBYRvTiTNU and you can those are about 2 minutes away from being fully lit.

Hope that helps!

They will with a lot of patience and a heat-proof thumb .

My preferred method of lighting coals is to have somebody hold one with their arms stretched out and shoot them with fireworks. Unfortunately my supply of fireworks and friends to smoke with has been dwindling as of late.
