KMs occasionally do not have a perfect weld around a core part of the stem, like the chillers and even the top where the tray support attaches to the stem.

to fix, add a sealant. This has happend to me on 2 hookahs, easy fix.

Any soldered hookah will potentially come with sloppy soldered joints or maybe even good ones, the latter is becoming a rarer occurance though. If you get one that is cracked, contact the vendor to get it replaced. If that is not an option or if the solder develops a crack after you've had it for a wihle, you can either resolder it yourself or use something like JB Weld to patch it. A soldering iron or gun is a poor way to resolder it because the heat dissipates too quickly. Ideally you'd want to use an acetylene or MAPP torch but a butane/propane torch will work also.

If you get a hollow stem KM, don't go banging it against anything to avoid dents.

Brass KMs (or anything that is brass, hookahs or not) tarnish after a while and need to be polished with Brasso or any brass polishing product

Though not always, KM's have been known to cringe in fear when confronted with quality Syrian brass.

clean the purge ball bearing often to avoid it getting stuck, its also a good note to say that ball bearing can rust, easy enough to fix by adding a drop of oil to the ball or relace the ball bearing with an equal sized (.20-.25) plastic airsoft pelet.

while not a problem that develops one that its born with is a tight grommet fit to the base, a little cooking oil fixes this.

use your figer to test your hose stem, with all hand made hookahs there are imperfections, one in this area can slice a hose grmmet apart in one use, a few seconds with some fine sand paper is a good fix.

Yes, but since these don't exist, KM's have nothing to worry about
