Just a quick question, whats the difference between the two? shape or the fact they are made of clay and ceramic?

egypyain bowls are hand made clay bowls....A mod bowl is a ceramic mold formed bowl....basically same functional shape....
Egyptian clay bowls tend to be thicker and stronger while the mod bowl gives you a consistant size and shape.. I prefere a good handmade clay egyptian bowl but I love my large mod bowl aswell.

^ what he said. I also believe it's easier to manage heat with an Egyptian bowl.

ok heres my pet peeve coming out, all "clay" that has been fired is ceramic. so most of the hookah bowls are ceramic unless you get an unfired bowl that lasts like 10 bowls then you get a new one. egyptian bowls are usually made from red egyptian clay, thick, and thickly glazed. the mod bowls looks to be like they are slip cast and are thinner and thinly glazed.
i used a mod bowl on my mya mini for a while and loved it great size, but i use the egyptian that i got with my km and it works well not too. you just need to manage heat a tiny bit differently with the mod -matt |

wait, are you talking about a mod bowl or a mya bowl, there is a differance, the mya bowls are much harder to use well, too deep and not very wide.

the myas i never had good luck with, my friends used them with alright results though. they are just too deep compared to their width to work well. that bowl is more easily smoked with 2 coals, maybe with a wind cover i would honestly look to other bowls like a traditional egyptian, or even a vortex (only got to use mine a few times before it broke )or mod -matt |

lol no worries, ive got both a tradional egyptian and a vortex. should be getting a phunnel soon aswell, was just interested in the differnce between the two as i have one at home thats not being used at all. i think il keep that aside and try buying a small egyptian bowl which im sure will be better.

ya,
the vortex is a nice bowl, i like it a lot for tangiers, it smokes better than the phunnel but gives me more flavor with less tobacco use. honestly though almost always i use a standard egyptian bowl with tangiers being the only exception and rarely some nakhla in a vortex (once i get a new one) -matt |

yeah i used to smoke most my stuff from the vortex but ecently started smoking the dry non mizo nakhla from the egyptian and its good, alot quicker to warm up than the vortex lol
