Default Coal Bomb!

I was just lighting a "golden coal" quicklight for my session with some SB blue mist. These are really nice coals IMO, they light well. But this time, as it was lighting in the tray, a big chunk of the coal exploded off! It made a big pop and it flew really far! It was pretty funny but scared me. lol

Wondering if this has happened to anyone before. There must have been a crack in the coal, it did come from the bottom of a roll.

That happened to me with a 3K QL a long time ago. I thought it was because the coal was damp.

yea happened to me before. i had one piece which blew up into loads of lil pieces as i went to light it and it fucked up my carpet.. lesson learnt: light up coals outside if you have to resort to quicklights, otherwise just stick to naturals

That happened to a friend of mine and I when we were smoking at his place this summer. I don't remember the brand of coal but it was some really cheap crappy brand. Blew up while he was transferring it from the pan to the bow! Now we each have a shirt that has lots of little holes in it. Coal blowing up in tongs=

This happened to me once, but it was a small piece and didn't do a whole bit of damage to the carpet. I've heard some stories though.

It has definitely happened to me before on a few occasions. Most of the time those accidents are simply part of the Hookah experience. You just have to take it all in stride. But it cant hurt to have good quality coals and to stick with what you like and works for you :]

hmmm, sounds like its common then. But like i said, most of the coal stayed intact, but a dime sized chunk flew off.
