Default Usually free coal carrier

I keep seeing ways how people transport their coals and i keep seeing websites selling coal carriers. So, I just wanted to share my method of carrying them. I use my pyrex measuring cup to carry my coals from my stove to hookah, it works great since it does not get very hot and it also has a handle. I just wash it out everytime i need to measure something.

what i really like about having something i always carry my coals in is that i never misplace my tongs b/c i usually let them dangle off the side of my measuring cup

That's what I use as well. The only problem is that if you don't walk quickly enough the tray starts to get rather hot

I took a page out of Kalutika's book:

http://www.hookahpro.com/forum/video...s&videoid=2052

Work great for the moment until I get around to actually making or buying something else.

I just have my coals on the walgreens burner next to me and place them from the burner to the hookah. No need for a carrier.

However, when i used the stove. I transported the coals from the stove to the hookah using an extra hookah tray. It works really well.

I used to do the same until I actually got a coal holder. I' not going to lie, its kind of a nice luxury to have especially if you get one with holes on the bottom because it ashes the coals nicely by just shaking it around a bit.

But other then an actual coal carrier I'd say an ashtray works best

I use my BARE HANDS! RAWR!

No, but seriously, I just use the tray of the hookah I'm using and just put the bowl on with the coals sitting there. Haven't had an accident yet.

I just use one of those aluminum plates that you use for grilling. The ones with the high edges on the side, ya know?
It works, but don't put your finger under the place where the coal is lying.

I like using a foil crown on my bowls so I just use the bowl itself.

I have an old metal pie pan - no teflon or other coatings, just metal. Works great - plenty large, never gets hot, and easy to carry. When I put things away, the coil burner fits inside it too.

I usually just transfer my coals directly from my burner ( five bucks at Walgreens FTW ) to the bowl. It's only about three steps away, so it's no big deal to walk back and forth with one coal at a time.

Lodge makes this brilliant cast-iron ashtray, as well. Would be perfect for coals. https://secure.lodgemfg.com/storefro...idProduct=3968
