Default Super Chief & Hose Question

Has anyone got any experience with the J & R washable hose? Has anyone got any advice about the Super Chief bowl and used it? How are the following hoses:

Umm i have the SuperChief and i like it Uses less shisha than the phunnel and is just as good. Hole formation i use would just be holes along the outside in a circle then like 3-4 semi big ones smack dab in the middle for airflow.

I have a medium Super chief and haven't got a chance to use it. I really am looking forward to giving this bowl a shot.

I have a "small" Super Chief and it's the cat's PJ's man! Takes at least 23 g to pack it but burns forever! I love it. I do 2 rings of about 20-25 holes each around the outer edge (over the shisha) and use 3/4 of an Exotica stick broken into 3 pieces. Smokes nice and thick for at least 1 1/4 hours of heavy pulls.

From what I hear, JandR's custom hoses are excellent. They are made from Vinyl tubing and other things one can find at hardware stores. They are prewashed with lemon juice to remove smell/taste and have a nice hose cover. Perhaps I'll order one in the future.

Off hand the SC sounds very good. I am concerned about heat management and set up so if anyone has some advice about that i'd be interested in hearing it.

Yes, i own the JandR washable, and i love it.

i just douse it in whatever i'm cleaning it with wothout any worries and then re-put my hose cover from samn on it and bam, i have a sexy Hose.

It draws MUCh better than the Nammor as well. In the Nammor, the acrylic pieces restrict airflow. And the width of the inside of the hose where the smoke is pulled form is not really 3/4" , it's less, because the WHOLE hose (including the outer wrapping) is 3/4" exactly.

I use 1 layer of Reynolds HD foil with 2 rings of about 20-25 holes each. I use a round toothpick because it makes a nice sized hole. I use 3/4 of an Exotica coal that I break into 3 pieces. I have tried 1/2 of a stick and it works but I get more smoke and a fuller flavor with 3/4.

I really like my nammor and the AF hose is nice but it's not wide enough for my taste. In terms of non washable stuff KM is the best in my opinion but that is just pure opinion rather then anything with a rationale behind it. hookah company has a lot of interesting washable hoses but I don't know anyone that has tried them.

I will be looking for a super chief however. Thanks for the input that everyone gave on these questions.

I have a few of those washable hoses...I don't remember what brand they were though. They have always worked great for me and when I want to clean them I just siphon hot water through them. Then I let them hang in my shower for about a half hour to be sure all of the water drips out.

The only problem I have had with with these hoses is when I received them one of the hoses was about a half foot longer than the rest.

To me a hose is a hose.

washable hoses are fairly good but the km hoses are great hoses to smoke out of. great quality but after a while you will have to change them like any other non-washable hose but they are good while they last.

Super Chiefs are very useful and lead to great sessions... But, i would prefer using a Phunnel + Mod for non- tangiers smoking. The smoke is more flavorful IMO with the phunnel.

I actually gave my super chief away to one of my friends cause i wasn't diggin it at all too much.

I'll be packing a small Super Chief of Pharoah's Exotic Peach after dinner. I'll take pics and post them this evening.

The problem with the chief is that the coals do in fact bend the foil to the middle. This heats the smoke quite a bit more than anyone would like it. The tobacco must be packed high enough so that is prevents the foil in the middle from leaning all the way in. But, when you pack it high enough to do that, the tobacco is touching the foil and burns immediately.

Tight foil will do good in the beginning, but over time the foil has no friction against the surface of the bowl and no matter what you try to do, always bends in towards the middle eventually.

This can be countered by using long sticks of coals, long enough to rest on the edge of the bowl and not be leaning on the foil. This works pretty well, but the tobacco burns through quickly. You just move the stick along the edges of the bowl.

As promised here's some pics...

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...rChief1001.jpg

The unpacked small Super Chief

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...rChief1003.jpg

The packed small Super Chief. I try to pack it light and fluffy, it's easier to do that using Nakhla or Pharaoh's as they aren't swimming in juice.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...rChief1005.jpg

Hole pattern over the small Super Chief.

I always use Exoticas so they don't cave the foil as ZenSilk mentioned. I also always use a homemade diffuser (the straw one) which cuts down on foil rattle from hard draws and big bore hose draws like my nammor.

BTW Pics are dark I know LOL. Flash made everything way too bright.
