Default How to dull the flavor?

Okay, so in the last 20 minutes I've posted like three new threads! I promise this is the last one of the night!

There are some flavors I like, but they're just too rich. Most berry flavors are this way for me. I'm wondering if there's some way to dull the flavor. Like, could I mix in some Zegloul or something?

I've never heard about anybody complaining that a flavor is too strong. Do you mean its to sweet? If thats the case mix it with some vanilla or mint.

Nakhla Sweet Melon is a good example. I like the flavor. It's not too sweet. It's just too strong. I always prefer more subtle flavors. So while I like a lot of the fruit flavors, I often don't smoke them because their just too strong for my taste.

first off, never be shy from posting, no matter how much, this community is to help people learn and share opinions, i for one love answering posts, especially ones wiht low post counts(less reading)

and to answer your question, one way ive managed to dull strong flavors while at the same time bring out weak ones is to let my shisha accimilate(let it sit out) when you do this, do it in a room temp area with no powerful aromas as shisha tends to absorb some of it.

you can try ice in the base. the extra cold tends to mute the flavors. If you are looking for more subtle fruit flavors you should give Desi Murli a try, i think it might be what you are looking for.

I think letting it sit out for a few hours is a good way of dulling the flavor, but if nothing works you can always use the flavor as a mixer. hope it works out for you

to tone done stronger flavors I like mixing in alittle AF honey or nakhla caramel the unflavored stuff adds a nice rich tobacco taste and tones done the flavors alot.I like adding the unflavoreds to non-fruit flavors. But you better like the taste of strong black tobacco. The Af honey and nakhla caramel don't add much to the flaovor other than a lite sweetness.Depending on what flavors your mixing them too decides which "tone down" mixer will taste and work best.Hope that helps..thats what I like personally.

i kinda know what u mean bpetruzzo. its exactly what my roommate was saying when we were smoking the naklahs sweet melon the other night. he liked it being less sweet and liked the extra nico. its the polar opposite for me i love sweet and im still on the fence over whether i like that much nico in my shisha or not. but the more sweet the better

recommend airing out the shisha though if u want to get a more suitable flavor. make sure its ventilated in an open area though away from anything that could tamper with the original flavor (food, room oders, etc) and somewhere where your roommates/pets can't get to it. lost alot of tobacco that way

use a little bit more water than usual (.5"-1" higher on the stem), and put a lot of ice in the base.

or, just keep smoking the glory that is nakhla sweet melon and you will start complaining that the flavor isn't strong enough.

Yeah, I mean I generally like the flavor of tobacco itself. So, when it comes shisha, I'm drawn to more bitter flavors. Coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, pistachio, rose, etc. But I like the taste of the fruitier flavors, I just wish they were more subtle.

Sometimes I'll let a set of coals sit on top of the bowl until they've burned through 30-ish% and by this time the flavor has normally dulled a bit. But I hate wasting the coals!

I suppose the flavour would be muted by adding something subtle to something strong. I suppose i'd add something like HH cavendish. Still, what normally happens when you add something is that it changes the flavour rather then weakens it. If you add too much heat you tend to kill the flavour or at least make it harsh. I suppose I never thought of it till now since basically I want more flavour.

I discovered tonight that sweet melon and nakhla orange balances out nicely. Just adds a nice subtle citric flavor.

Believe it or not, I got a new bowl that actually seems to smoke smoother than other bowls but at the same time mutes/reduces flavor. It's called the Crown Bowl Classic from crownhookahs.com. The design of the bowl is such that depending on your foil hole pattern, it can introduce a large amount of airflow. The extra air seems to reduce flavor somewhat. I have a video review rendering right now, will be up very late tonight or sometime tomorrow.
