Default Coco Nara Kilo = FAIL

Just got my kilo of CCN. Very happy with them(On hookahset only 9.99 )

When I lit them though two of the three started smoking hardcore with a plastic smoke. My whole room still wreaks of it haha.

It's not the burner, I checked the coals & they themselves were smoking with a horrible plastic smoke.

I am guessing because they touched the plastic at the top of the box for too long. Possibly a shipping issue with them being crowded or they way they were stored.

But just be forewarned when you get your CCN Kilo, be careful & light them in a very well ventalated area.

Smokin some Tangiers DOUBLE ORANGE (Noir, obviously)... By the time the coals were ashed over there was a SLIGHT plastic taste for the first two minutes & they perform just as great as ever.

& Tangiers Double Orange = Orange Soda + Static Starlight floral flavor (Eric's homade rose)... Definitely a win.

CCN Kilo experiences?

I've using Coconara for more than a year and they were fine. However, the last one I got had the same smell that you described and I've switched to Nour and Abu Alabed. They are really nice with no taste at all.

Interesting. I have never had that issue. Thanks for the warning. If I ever go back to the coconara I will keep this in mind.

I wouldn't let the one incident rethink as we all encounter bad batches of everything every now and then.

I got my kilos in today (I bought 5) but I still have about half of my last 84pc left. I'll post here if I have any problems when I open my kilos.

i haven't used coconara's , just John's ******* hookah brand, my guess may be that they may have heat sealed the bags surrounding the coals and thats how it happened, or maybe some sort of plastic fell in whatever they use to make the coals. I'd contact them directly and see if they know about it and find out what's going on

You can all laugh at this!! I just bought a bunch of coco nara coals... Cause everyone says they are better. I am used to using quick lights and I only have a gas stove which made it completely impossible to light them... So now I am stuck with a billion coals and no way to light them without going to by an electric heater... I know I am a noob... Haha. But still it was funny watching me try a million ways to light the coals... As I am sure you can all imagine... Hehehe...

Best chance is maybe if you have a torch lighter, which will still take forever lol

i like gas stoves for lighting coal...dont know why it wouldn't work.

also you can buy a coil burner at walgreens or cvs or target for like 8-10 bucks.

Well I just found out from shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond that they actually have some pretty tight torch lighters by the cooking ware. It's supposedly used for caramelizing things on cake and melting other things but looks perfect for lighting coals. There's a $20 and $30 or $40(i forgot the price on it). It's got a handle and a trigger (gun like) like the ones sold on hookah sites.
