Default 2 quick lites??

i'm using lemon tree charcoals (probably the best Israel has to offer, trying to get my hand on coconara's) and i allways use only one coal. and even then it sometimes gets harsh.

placed on the side of the egyption bowl (waiting for my vortex with the coconara's)
i see ppl using 2 coals. am i doing something wrong?

1, even without windcover sometimes get too hot, and not only with those charcoals.

any insights?
Thanks!

I'll try and explain what I mean by harsh.
not the ashy coaly taste. but for expample when i hold the smoke in my mouth, to make O's for example, it get like irritating and make me wonna cough.. that's suck.
right now it sits almost half coal off the i purge and it returns...
what could b the reason?

where are you placeing the coal?
i have no experience with those coals but if you place them on the edge then you should be good to go.
it could be that it burns hotter than others and you just have to rotate the coal.
it could also be you over packed the bowl, or even that you are smoking a really heat sensitive tobacco.
explain your packing and type of tobacco, brand and cut, even wetness and maybe we can help a little more.
let me know how that all works out.

How large is that one coal you're using?

they are placed on the outer rim of the bowl

i got this only sometimes, could be the shisha, cause i don't remember it happening like this before using it. it's not a brand, it's from an arabic market here in Israel, kinda wet, a bit (very little) dripping of the bottom of the bowl. it's not over packed, just under the edge of the bowl (egyptian clay)

These are the coals

it sounds like maybe your foil is touching the tobacco and causing it to burn. make sure your tobacco is below the rim of the bowl and that your foil is nice and tight.

When I used quicklights I usually broke them up into 3-4 pieces and placed the pieces on the edges. Giving some air between the pieces of the coal helps with the harshness in my experience.
