Default Foil problem

Hey there

Well, got some problem with my foil. Thickest foil I can get my hands on here in germany is of 18 mu thickness. Now, though I keep it really tight, as soon as I put my coals on it, it sucks down. I think that happens because as soon as it heats up, it expands. Any suggestions? I think I will try to use more foil

Hmmm Error occurred between the Hookah and chair

Try Double layer foil and try wrapping tape around the stem of the bowl to hold the foil tight or with a juicy moassel smear some of the juice on the rim of the bowl then pull the foil tight this will hold the foil in place.

I think more holes could solve the problem too, because if there is not enough airflow, the foil will be sucked down too?!

just add another piece of foil and make sure you have enough holes for good air flow.

Use bigger pieces of foil. Don't be stingy! Make sure the piece is big enough so when you tighten it down, it covers the bowl and down onto the neck.
I use the thinnest, cheapest-ass foil I can find. I load it down with coals and have no problems, even on my phunnel bowls.

I usually do it like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCRstr-Vxc8
I don't use the tape (everything else is the same), but I don't think that would help, because in my opinion the foil extends when it heats up and than it lowers itself a few mm to the hole of the funnel bowl. I don't want to say that it becomes impossible to smoke, but it gets a lot harder to draw. Funny thing is that I did not have this problem a few months ago with the same foil etc I will try a few more holes tomorrow, if that does not help, I'll add a sheet more foil..

make a rectangle and when you fold it in half it should be a square (you're getting two sheets of foil) and place over the bowl very tightly

It is definitely not enough holes. Not that anyone would do this, but if you were to pack a bowl and cover it with foil with NO holes, put a coal on it and watch it get sucked in. It's the chemistry of heat applied. Poke more holes and it won't suck down nearly as much. Good luck.

Although I am not a great fan of mods, this seems to be a good alternative! Now I will poke more holes and if that does not work, I'm gonna give this a try, thanks

I'll bet dollars for dimes that you need to use a larger piece of foil. It should wrap around the bowl and almost to the neck at least. The way the foil stays in place is through friction. It needs to be tight and have a large surface to surface contact area to stay in place. Watch my videos about foiling a bowl and it will show you what I use to great success. Also, sealing the bowl with a little of the juice fro the tobacco can help make a better seal.

So, I followed your instructions, sealed the bowl with the juice of the tobacco, used a large peace of foil and made more and bigger holes. It worked well

Thanks guys!

Glad it's working for you. That much foil may be a little over kill though. It really only need to read the bottom of the actual bowl rather than the stem.
