Butane torches can work, but they take quite a bit longer than sitting the coals on a coil burner.

In that case, you could pick up an old pan from a second-hand store and just use your stove at home, it will still heat the coals and the pan will give a barrier. That, or the torch will work.

Ya... it can work. But as TheFaded stated it will take a VERY long time.

Those torches are tiny. We use a torch 3x that size with quick-light charcoal. I bet they will run out before the coals are completely lit.

From the video and the pictures from users it doesn't look tiny.

And can you lite natural coals on glass-ceramic cooktop? is it safe for the cooktop ?

just put the coals in a pan on top of the cooktop so they're not directly touching, and you'll be golden.

the OP mentioned they're in the EU, so unfortunately it's not quite as easy as this.

I have used a torch like that on bulk natural stick coals. It does take a while, but not more than about 5 mins. You will have to blow on them a lot to get them going good and let them sit for a while to ash over.

Butane torches do work but the problem I find with them is it does not heat and light up a charcoal as evenly as a stove. The outside can be lit fairly quick and easy but getting the center to light also is a different matter.
