Default screw-on bowl?

When I was at the local shop I was looking at the hookah's, and I saw one of the bowls upside down, and I noticed that it was a screw-on bowl.
The stem had no grommet, but just the same "lines" in it.
Is this good or bad?
I have never seen this before, are there reason why the popular brands don't do that?
If it's as good as a normal bowl, I guess it is much safer, because your bowl can't be knocked over as easy as a normal bowl?

I haven't ever seen this before, but I can't imagine there's a good airtight seal on the bowl. Then again, there are screw on hookahs that work perfectly fine.

That would definitely limit your options for bowls. You would have to have every bowl maker use the exact same thread pattern just to fit that hookah. Manufaturing variances aside, the added cost would be a big factor.
Straight male/female fittings and cheap grommets are much easier to make. Neat idea, but I think it would be more hassle than it's worth.

that's true, but if I'm only using the bowl that came with it, there shouldn't be any problems, right?

Till the Bowl gets broken that is then the problem would be replacing it and you will be limited to only that bowl type to use

well as far as other bowls on the same hookah goes, you could simply put a grommet over the ridged lines on the hookah itself and then use whatever bowl u want.

If its a chinese hookah the bit that actually screwes into the stem could be stuck on the bowl attach the bowl to the hookah then pull it and it may come off
you should post some pics??
