Default cleaning your bowl

Ok so im lazy and have used my bowls many times without washing them very well. And as of now the rims of all my bowls are incased with a hard black coating that will not come off. I have used scratch pads and soked them but nothing seem to be working the only way so far i have been able to get the gunk off is to scrape it with a sharp knife. So ive learned my leason but i still need to get them clean now so i can keep them clean. any suggestions its been very slow going scraping them with a knife any ideas would be apreciated.

I've allowed a couple of my clay bowls to build up a ring as well. I don't know any way of getting it off other that scraping. To prevent this I soak my bowls in hot tap water immediately following a session while the bowl is still warm. I then use a Scotch Brite pad to scrub the bowl out.

Does boiling the bowl get rid of this? I havn't thoroughly cleaned my bowls in forever and they all have a nice black ring. Thats one good thing about my glass bowl, I've never cleaned it and no ring.

That's one of the nice things about the CrownHookahs glass bowls, relatively easy to keep clean.

Thanks Dee

Ill deffinatly try this once there clean. Ive gotten to laxed with my hookah cleaning and now that i can actually get out of the chair to get things its time for me to step it up and take care of my riggs. I used a 5 gal bucket today to clean my stuff in worked out well since i cant stand at the sink long enough to clean them. im also going to try the boiling thing to see it it will soften the stuff off them to get it off. thanks guys for all the input at least im not the only one.

I'm trying something right now.
My little toaster oven needed cleaning. So after coating the inside of the oven, I sprayed oven cleaner over three of my bowls and put them inside, set the temp on 'warm' and set the timer for 2 hours.

We'll see if this works.

Well, they're out. And with the exception of some stubborn bits inside the center hole of one of the phunnels, they're all squeaky clean.
Oven cleaner works pretty darn good.

Just the cheap generic brand that was on special at the grocery store.
Probably Easy-Off with a Kroger label.

Make a solution of rubbing alcohol and kosher salt enough to cover the bowl. Lets is soak for a few minutes and your residue ring should peel right off

I use a metal scouring pad and lightly scrub the bowl. I have yet to do the boiling thing. I will have to try that.
