Default Is there such thing as a non removable stem?

The new 28'' syrian hookah I bought, I think has a non removable stem. I havent tried cleaning it yet but I had a brief look at the stem and it didnt look like it was screwed in. It looked molded on so i dont really know how Im going to clean it.

I was just wondering if anyone else has a hookah with a non removable stem and if you do how do you clean your hookah.

Do you mean it's stuck on the base? or that the stem does not come apart into seperate pieces?

On handmade hookahs, the stem is all soldered together to basically be one piece; this includes the Shaft, Heart, downstem, hose port, purge valve.

With Factory-manufactured hookahs, the stem can be unscrewed, as most pieces on the hookah can as well.

on most quality syrian hookahs, the down stem is a solid shaft w/the exterior welded around it. the stem that hits the water will not unscrew.

my stem is welded on. i'm glad you started this topic, because i was worried that having a non-screwable stem was a sign of low quality

Ok good I mean mine is a really good quality syrian and was $90. When i bought it the head shop owner just warned me to not break it off or else the hookah would be unusable so I just gotta be careful. But for those that do have a weiled on stem how do you clean your shaft/downstem, can you just brush it normally or is there anything special?

i brush mine normally. the brush isn't quite long enough, so i brush from the top, then again from the bottom. seems to work well enough

how in the hell would you change the water? I would just say yank it off... and if it breaks... then it was a crappy hookah anyway

i dont think he means the stem is connected to the base....i think he means the stem and downstem are all one piece.

Sorry i wasnt clear but I mean the part which is in the water is connected to the shaft(i think thats what its called im not to good on the names). I cleaned it today and it was just like anyother hookah except you cant remove the stem. Its welded on. And no its its not connected to the vase if thats what you were thinking.

Yeha i thought you meant that. One all quality hand-made Hookahs the stem is welded on. In Factory Made Hookahs the stem is threaded as to unscrew for easy cleaning.

So you just have a traditionally crafted hookah, no worries.

I used to have a hookah with the stem welded on too. I found a great way to clean it too...

I took and old sock with a bunch of holes in it and cut it into strips. I then tied a long piece of twine in the center of a strip of sock cloth. You then lead the twine down from the top and out the stem pull it through and the cloth at the other end will clean it as it comes through. (make sure the sock is clean you don't want to smoke toe jam )

I was inspired for this cleaning method by watching a guy clean a saxophone with a piece of cloth attached to a cord..
