Default Mizo Guava Oddity

So a while back I received a sample of Mizo Guava in a trade and just now got around to smoking it. I was pretty stoked to smoke it because the guava smell was so strong, there was no way the flavor would bomb. Well, just as I expected, the flavor was just about on par with the smell. It produced good, smooth smoke and thick clouds. There was no harshness whatsoever, but the weird thing is that it started to make my tongue burn and go numb. I had to end the bowl after about 15 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this?

Small Tangiers Phunnel, 1 layer HD foil, 3-ring hole pattern, 3 CH QL's and a wind cover to kick it off.

Yup I've gone through almost a full kilo of it. Definitely leaves a numbness on my tongue. Nothing I can't smoke through... But eh kinda interesting.

If you've tried Kava Kava then you'd be used to it. But yeah you arent alone

Good to know. My friend and I were sitting there smoking like "Why does it feel like I just used mace for breathspray?"

Sounds like a nicotine reaction.

Definitely not a nicotine reaction, considering we smoked Desi Murli just before that and had no problems. I am also a routine Nakhla smoker and throw in some Tangiers Noir when I have it.

I was refering to nicotine reaction from your specific batch of Nakhla Mizo, not necessarily to your nic tolerance in general. I get random batches of any given brand which reacts oddly at times.

could be a combo of QL's and the windcover. I never use QL's as they mess with the flavour and having a windcover on from the start just adds to much heat for my liking

Yeah this happens with me too, I used to smoke it 2 times a day when i first discovered the flavor and everyday i'd get a fuzzy tongue. Its just the flavoring in the tobacco. Like mint: when you smoke mint your mouth gets cooler and everything in your mouth gets cooler. Same here but its more of a sugar coating, everything is so sweet with guava in the house!

It has nothing to do with the nicotine lol

It's a damn good flavor to be sure, but I guess I'll just have to get used to the numb tongue thing.

I've had the same issue, the flavor is good as hell but it does leave a little burn and tingling.

I have never tried the AF Guava, but Mizo Guava is the best one I have ever tried. It does smell and taste really sweet but you can really taste the guava fruit which is rare IMO.

The AF guava does not compare to the Mizo in any way. not even close. The other Guava I like is Fumari but Mizo is my favorite. Don't know why your tounge went numb, very strange, never happened to me or my friends.
