Default Extending the smoke with Nakhla?

I recently discovered that adding a bit of black molasses to Nakhla will help it smoke thicker from a Vortex. But, it needs more heat and the smoke thins out before the coals have burned through. Putting on fresh coals will revive things.

I'm wondering if adding a bit more glycerin will help resolve that problem. I don't have any glycerin on hand, so I'm wondering if anyone can give some input on this before I go out and buy some.

So, what do you think?

Do it. A touch of glycerine brings dried out Nakhla back to life and, more importantly, doesn't affect the flavor like molasses can.
Just be careful, too much glycerine at one time can make your shisha taste like soap. I've gotten excellent results by mixing in a little bit at a time until the tobacco just starts looking shiny when held up to a strong light.

Yeah adding in some Nakhla Khan el Khalil helps a ton... Thickness wise & 'buzz' wise if you are looking for that.

I add mizo gum in to enhance moistness & longevity... Or a phunnel packed tight with holes through the shisha for long two rounded coal sessions with OG Nakhla.

Thanks, I'll pick up some today and see how it goes. I haven't found the molasses to change the flavor noticeably. Then again, I am using only a small amount of it. But I have a feeling that adding a touch of glycerin and molasses together might go a long way.

I'm a little uncertain what you mean. What is Nakhla Khan El Khalil? Is it a kind of Nakhla or an ingredient of some time? Also, what is Mizo Gum? I thought Mizo was a kind of Nakhla.

Khan el Khalil is one of the black moessels that Nakhla makes. Not widely available here. It uses different tobaccos and has higher nicotine than Zaghloul. Not one for the Starbuzz crowd.
Mizo Gum is one of the flavors of the Mizo line. A very light mint taste.

Check your local health food store. Make sure the label states it is safe for human consumption.
If you don't luck out there, you can always go online.

********** also stocks Khan el Khalil now as well.
I picked up my glycerin at a Whole Foods. Although it is a small bottle it goes a long way since I only use a 1/4teaspoon for a bowl of Zag or Desi. Also another thing to look into is a light/amber molasses. Molasses is the second ingredient that helps preserve the tobacco along with the glycerin. Hajo posted an article about molasses vs. honey(http://www.hookahpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10088). Make sure it is an unsulphered molasses and try to avoid blackstrap molasses. Most health stores will stock blackstrap because it has the lowest caloric content of different types but will be far too bitter and overwhelm the tastes of the tobacco.

Just out of curiosity, Your doing all this just to get "Thicker clouds" Not because the nakhla is dried out? Seems like a lot of trouble just for thick clouds..

No, it's not about the clouds. I strongly prefer my Vortex or Phunnel to a standard egyptian bowl. Nakhla normally doesn't do real well in those bowls. But, since adding a touch of extra molasses to the tobacco, I'm getting really rich sessions out of the other bowls. And, the flavor is lasting nearly twice as long. But, the molasses also seems to thin the smoke after a short while. So, I'm considering adding a touch of glycerin as well to see if it balances things out.

Love the taste of Nakhla. Hate being restricted to a standard egyptian bowl.
