Default Underpacking a Vortex

If you only have a couple people smoking, I findthe vortex holds more tobacco than you need, can you pack less in there and still get good results? and is it worth throwing another couple coals on if they burn out before the bowl is finished?

Thanks for any help, my vortex is a new acquisition so im gonna use the experience of people whoe ha one for a while and worked out the best way to use it! =]

honestly i think only my small egyptian bowls hold less than the vortex, but yes you can always pack less, just remember that you need to pack it against the walls of the bowl so that you can: A) get a closer proximity to the coals and B) present a good amount of shisha surface area to the heat that will fill the bowl.

I find that you can under pack a vortex and be fine although make sure however low it is makes a flush layer that touches all around the bowl. so the heat gets to it effectively

If you pack your vortex bowl full, than you can put another set of coals on it, if the first round is finished. In my experience the flavor and the smoke are not that good if I don't pack the tobacco up to the top of the holes. So if you want to use less sheesha, I would recommend to put some aluminium foil in the bottom of the bowl. I have tried it and it works.

I smoke a vortex all the time with a couple people. Dont pack it in tight. Just sprinkle it in and the bowl will taste good for an hour til its black and crispy.
