Default Homemade Moassel With Dokha

A few weeks back I grabbed a huge canister of Iranian Dokha (don't know what the Farsi word is for it) in Tunis and since I like it decided to make a moassel with some some of it. Oh, this stuff is made in Khansar I am told the brand name is "Silver Moon" and it tastes like Bergamont oil, cedar and strong sun cured tobacco.

Used some Kentucky flake and English Grand Cru pipe tobacco as a base and added 100g of Dokha to it and then just proceeded as I normally would in making a black style moassel.

The result is fantastic! Extremely rich, heavy earthy and lots of muted spice tones in background with a strong taste of molasses. All wonderful way to relax and stimulate the taste buds. Most definitely worth an afternoon of baking and mixing.

I will be reporting on my flavoured variant on that recipe shortly.

awesome. I was wondering if it was possible or if the dokha would overtake any other tasting notes... fantastic, looking forward to the second report.

Sounds wonderful. The next time I make some moassel myself I will look into this tactic.

I got out the candy oils and added a bit of clove and a bit more vanilla to a second batch and the result is really amazing. I can definitely taste the dokha and the flavours are pretty complicated with nothing really dominating. One of the better home made batches I've made. Obviously this is not a smoke for people that want a candied type product but if you like Desi Merli or the black stuff made by Salloum or Nakhla but want something more complicated then give what I did a shot.

Having Dokha in a hookah tobacco blend? I'd imagine a big rip would cause you to fall out, twitch, drool, and soil yourself, not necessarily in that order! LOL

I was just wondering the same thing myself... well, throwing a bit of dokha in with my shisha that is. I just smoked a bowl of Mizo Watermelon, then decided to heighten my buzz with a bowl of Persian 5.07 from the medwakh. I coughed all the way through it.

The flavoured description is in the last post I did. Basically I did it because I was hoping to replicate the Khansar moassel I got a while back and since the dokha I have has Khansar leaves I figured it was worth a shot. No, it doesn't taste much at all like what I was trying to do but it's really great in any case.

I don't really do it for a buzz but then I never get buzzed from anything I smoke including Iranian dokha. I imagine hoovering it would be unpleasant in the extreme.

You can't just sprinkle it in to what ever moassel you laying around and get much of the taste. You have to actually make a moasel from scratch and do the whole baking thing like described.

If anyone has a question i'll see if I can answer it.

Just smoke some dokha I got made with Hookah-Hookah Cavendish and some Nakhla Earl Gray and man was it great. Thanks to the HPer that posted it to me. The dokha used was Bassem's North African blend. You guys need to give this sort of thing a try.

My question is, if one were to sprinkle a bit of dokha on their bowl of shisha, would there be enough heat to actually burn/smoke the dokha? I think it would be a nice buzz-booster for Nakhla. Perhaps I need to take my dokha off the market?

So far the results have great! However, I like a full bodied smoke with lots complicated flavours and noticeable tobacco element. If you are the sort of person that sticks with basically only washed, fruity types stuff you probably won't like this sort of thing.

Well you don't actually want to burn the dokha since it's a moassel and sicne I was try to get the flavours of the dokha to blend in with the rest of the tobacco I whipped up a batch from scratch and baked it. The process is described here:
www.hookahpro.com/forum /showthread.php?t=499

As to sprinkling it on something else, well, I am not sure what would happen but you can give it a try. Do it and let me know how it works. If you inhale I am sure you will get a heavy buzz and if you like that sort of thing by all means try it out.

I smoke Nakhla almost exclusively, but I am considering giving this a try.
