Default coconara woes

After using these things for a million years, I decided to pick some up recently again this time settling for the 108 box. After opening it up, I noticed that the coals were a little "shorter" at their height. After placing them on the coil burner it came to my attention that they take a lot longer to light. After waiting a couple minutes I also noticed that some of them actually to "pop" up sparks and it reminded me of a thread of how they were "blowing up" for some users. Another thing is... when on the stove they were giving out a faint smell which I have never noticed on the other boxes.

Idk what really coconara is up to these days. I never had a problem before and this is kind of ridiculous. Noway I have a bad batch because of the 5 boxes I ordered, ALL of them are having these issues. I guess I may be in the market for new natural coals.

never noticed this. probably due to the fact that I light my coals outside and don't see what happens in the process of lighting lol.

Maybe the reason for the short supply, coconara's aren't satisfied with the product and are improving on them, before releasing new batches

4-5 boxes all bad batches huh? I guess that's possible... highly unlikely though.
I don't really like this new box idea. The size of the squares have scaled down in size too.
Rather have the 84 which never gave me any problems.

All the coals in the 5 boxes probably came from the same manufacturing batch, so in that sense, I'd expect all 5 boxes to perform similarly. The bad batch explanation isn't unreasonable.

That said, I have noticed a few pops out of the coals in my 108pc, but then again I haven't noticed any issues in performance with them. I just ordered another 5 boxes even.

when you say light via coal do you mean you put uncooked coals over lit coals on your bowl. the reason i ask is you can do this with Japanese coals and with disc ql's (don't recommend) but i have never tried with any cocos. please advise, thanks
