Default New CH Coal recipe

So, as most of us know, ******* Hookah coals have recently had some changes made. John being the stuf he is has been listening to our input and has made his coals denser.

I got my kilo of the new ones in today, and they seem noticably heavier than the old ones. They are a little looser in the box, which i LOVE. Getting the old coals out of a full box, or a new row could be quite the hassle. They are taking a little longer to light, but smell a little less.

I have to run and put them on the bowl now. Anybody else have experience with the new recipe?

Does that mean fewer come in a box as well, or are they not packaged by weight? (Still haven't gotten around to ordering a few)

There are 120 coals in the box. Still the same amount of coals, i believe, or close enough. And they are ashing cleaner and burning longer. Oh Hookah John.... How I love thee.

My CH nats have been going out on me recently right on top of the bowl. I think I may have to get some of these soon.

I may have to look into some CH QL's, I'd like to have a small stash of QL's that are decent.

I got a free 48 pc. box of naturals with my most recent hookah order from HJ and while they take longer to light, they definitely last longer, which is fantastic. They're easily the equals of Coconaras, which did tend to last a little bit longer than the old CHs.

Nice work, John.

Thats the only thing I dont like about these coals.. The side facing down always goes out and I got to flip them every 10 minutes or so. Anybody else got this problem?

This happens to me from time to time, but I've also seen it with Coconaras. However, I'm pretty sure it's just an issue of not leaving the coals on the stove for enough time.

nope.. deff not the problem.. happens to the QLs to and you dont use a stove to light those... and when my nats are finished heating up i leave them on thee coail burnder for another minute on each side while i get something to drink

nope.. deff not the problem.. happens to the QLs to and you dont use a stove to light those... and when my nats are finished heating up i leave them on thee coil burner for another minute on each side while i get something to drink.. even with leaving them on for an extra amount of time.. this problem still occurs.. its just that the foil that the coal is touching starts to absorb the heat from that part of the coal and the air being drawn when you smoke cools down that little part that of the coal that is already being stripped frm its heat

i think lol

i remember johns email saying that he redid the ql recipe and they last longer but are harder to light, IIRC he was working on it again and it was supposed to be kinda between the old and the new so that they were not as hard to light but they end up not lasting as long.

I havent tried the new coals yet but the whole thing about one side being black after sitting for 10-15 minutes doesnt ruin my session. The heat still maintains perfectly fine. When I ash my coals I just flip it to the other side and voila! Problem solved and the other side will now heat back up.

I would, however, like to see the comparison of the two (old and new).

This is great to hear! I will surely pick up a new batch. Does anyone have a pic of the new packaging? or is it exactly the same?
