Default Cracks In a Ceramic Vortex?

ok guys, my vortex was perfectly fine when i got it. just about 5 minutes ago i noticed some black lines on the spire. i wiped all the carbon buildup off, and then noticed that theyre were little lines going from hole to hole. i belive they might be cracks. they dont appear to go all the way thru, and its visible on and thru the glazing. it could just be weird scratches and you cant feel them if you scratch over it with a finger nail. ive never dropped it or anything. does washing a hot bowl with cold water crack ceramic? i havent done this im just curios. it still seems pretty strong im just wondering

I would say its just the glazing and the paint/color of the bowl because I have the same on my phunnel bowl. I believe its just cosmetic

glaze in just a very thin layer of glass basically, depending on the composition the heating and cooling of the bowl can lead to it to crack, it probably wont chip or open up at all but you might notice lines like that. i had that all over my mod bowl and it still worked fine when i used it (went to a larger egyptian but still have the mod)

i wouldnt worry about it

I have a brown vortex. After about the tenth use, I was cleaning the holes out with a small brush and...pop! the top of the spire cracked off. I used Gorilla glue to fasten it back. It's happen 1 more time over the course of 6 months. Still smokes great. Hopefully the others are right and they aren't cracks.

The cracks that you see are usually formed from washing a hot bowl with cold water. it pretty much just glaze cracks. i have them on my phunnel and it doesn't impact on smoking capability at all. just cosmetic.

Yep, I've been in ceramics before.. Based on your description that sounds like glaze crack. In no way affects functionality, you're good to go!

Are you sure that it's safe to smoke glue?

Yeah not sure, I did "cure" it by just setting up a couple of bowls with a bit of crap shisha and not smoking but blowing/purging.

Maybe I'll get cancer sooner rather than later

CA just air cures, not sure if heating it gives off anything and if ti does im not sure if heating it multiple times will give off less of anything. MSDS sheets suck when it comes to how to treat the chemical AFTER it reacts
