Default KM Vase Paint

I recently purchased a KM Trimetal from hookahstore.com and it has exceeded my expectations in almost every way, except while I was cleaning it the other day and rinsed the vase with water some of the paint started coming off. It seemed as though certain areas on the paint were more easily washed away than others and I went as far as to try to scub some of the paint off to see if it would all rinse away easily. I found that either the paint rinsed away by itself or it could not be removed even by me scrubbing at it.

I'm wondering if there was something I missed in doing my research before I purchased my hookah or if this is uncommon and I need to follow up with hookahstore to see if there is something they can take care of.

Thanks in Advance.

because they are hand paainted, they are prone to fade but not that quickly or easily, contact the sellers, i'm sure the will sort something out for you.

I sent them an e-mail for now, If they don't contact me by the time I'm out of work later I'll call them.

Thanks for your help, I just wanted to confirm my suspicions that I was not doing something wrong by rinsing the vase

This has been happening to the base on my KM, very slightly and at the very top. It has happened mostly during cleaning, but I'm not that worried. It was a clearance item, and I got it for $62 shipped, so I can't really complain.

This happened to my Km base over time.. Hand paint just washes off eventually.. It started to look pretty rugged after a while, so I sanded it and frosted the glass. And now it is revitalized!

Its not too bad right now, only one section of the vase really.

I decided when/if more of the paint comes off that I'm just gonna remove all of the paint and hand it off to a friend of mine who is an Art major so she can work her magic on it

The bases that come with KMs are not made by KM themselves. They are notorious for paint coming off. It's nothing special and won't effect the functioning of the pipe. You just have to be careful if you really want the pain to hang around. Personally I am careful with mine and have no issues but I am looking forward to having it all come off so I can justify doing some glass etching.

I like the idea of sanding and frosting. That will definitely be an idea to hold on to once my KM's pretty little flower and butterfly design starts to fade.

Thats interesting, my paint has been chipping off after use. I wouldn't be too concerned, if it is all gone you can paint your own design.

I have the same problem with my vase at the very bottom it happened when I used ice in the vase and here in Hawaii glass sweats bad cuz of the high Humidity when I wiped the water off some of the paint came too. I don't have a problem when there's no ice.

Its perfectly normal. if you dont want it to happen, use a soft cloth, and no ice and dont touch it. it is just paint, its not meant to be super rugged.

I contacted Hookahstore.com and they just told me that since its hand painted its bound to happen. Then they said to use cold water when cleaning and only rinse/clean the inside

Unfortunately you will find cheap paint on the majority of Egyptian vases now. Syrian vases tend to be better but can still be rubbed off by hand.

i don't own a km or anything but in the future i do intend to purchase one, just a thought, maybe when buying a new one or even if the paint isn't already that bad, give it a clear coat? i don't know if that'd work with glass or even what to use but i don't think it could hurt it, at the same time i don't know if that's even a good idea.

I like the clear coat idea, if sprayed on correctly you probably wouldn't even notice it was there, and I don't think any shinyness that may occur would take away from the aesthetics of the hookah. If I end up repainting mine at some point I would definitely consider trying it.
