I like to think we give honest, fairly balanced reviews... Even brands that we love, we have admitted when a flavor sucks, just like with brands we normally don't like, when we find a flavor that we do enjoy, we admit it (case in point, HH Kiwi). If I have never tried a brand, I try not to comment on it.

I am a huge fan of the puckx/wolf/gothkid reviews and I regularly watch them. I agree that HH/HF does have some good flavours and I like the fact that the 3 of you guys do stuff together since it gives a more varied outlook.

I do like your format for written reviews. I'm curious though about the max number of points for each category. Is it a max of 50 for each?
EDIT: NEVER MIND I FIGURED IT OUT!!
Oh, I missed the video only part so that does change things. As for how I do it I almost always keep the max points per section to 30-40. When I get something for free I can't really place a rating on the value of the product so I take the 30 points that I normally give to the value portion and distribute it else where. Still, the big thing is not the number of points per category but rather that all the categories are there and that I get as descriptive as possible.

The truth is that there only a few people who write reviews that are worth reading.

What I suggest is that people take a look at the review format i've been using which are here - http://www.hookahpro.com/forum/searc...earchid=287761

I haven't gotten any feedback on my reviews but i've done my best to make them descriptive and have a scoring system that lets people know how I decide how good something is.

First off I only review shisha that I have purchased. Second I love watching reviews from the members here but I would never run out a buy 250g of something that a reviewer rated high. Its only their 2 Cents I hope the reviewers keep there reviews honest and unbiased I know I try to. I've seen reviews on Nakhla Earl Grey that the reviewer rated very high so a purchased a 50g and I hate it so bad that I never will smoke it again but I won't do a review on it cuz I don't want some not to try it because I think it the worst out there. I know I have a hard time on what to give a shisha when I have nothing else to compare it to. Like my last review on Romman Cinnamon I gave it 9 out of 10 cuz the only other cinnamon I had before that I thought was horrible which made me give Romman I high score. I was expecting not to like then loved it.

Earl Grey is one of those acquired tastes. It is true to taste of what Earl Grey is .. but not everyones cup of tea (hehe pun intended)

Great review on the Romman Cinnamon, you have wanting to get some .. I like cinnamon flavored shisha tobacco a lot!

I'm glad to see all the positive comments in this thread .. it is great to know everyone shares a passion for honest and unbiased reviews.

I have no problem with that. I think the Nakhla Strawberry I got was not that great, so it got a 4. I'm not gonna BS just because someone gave me a free sample.

I don't like the Nakhla Strawberry either, we agree on that I hate to give it a bad review but when it sucks it sucks! I'm unbiased like that ..

I agree with Hajo about the reviews with multiple people in them. Such as the Nak Apple review TheGirlfriend put up. She didn't like it, but he did, and gave their seperate opinions. It's getting both sides of the coin. And when everyone likes it, it's even better.

When it comes to buying shisha and doing reviews, people are gonna buy what they like, and will rate it high because they like it. So many people will average high on reviews because they don't wanna risk their money on something they don't like.

My personal example, I bought a 250 of nak sweet melon based on the raving reviews, but for me, it just didn't take the cake.

EDIT: And I like seeing people put what flavors they have, or their favorites in their signature, so you can get an idea of what they like so you can compare their tastes to your own.

As for those who have been given free shisha in return for reviews, such as the current contest, I can see how people are reluctant to go too negative because they would feel ungrateful, but they have to realize the tobacco isn't a reflection on the vendor, not at all, but it's the fact that the vendor would go out of their way to provide the samples in the first place.

So even if you are honest, and don't like it, rate it accordingly. There may, and probably will be those who do like it, and rate it high, and the average is what speaks loudly. I've actually been thinking about going through the written reviews and averaging out each flavor. Might take a long time, but might be a big help.

Here is an example:

Manufacturer, Flavour & size:
JM Tobacco, Baja Orange, 250g

Setup:
J & R three part Syrian, Nammor hose, small funnel with scalli, 6 small pieces of Forani coals, foil with two circles with large holes.

Packing (10 pt.):
Tongue & groove wooden box which olds a metallic/plastic bag with zip lock style re-seal. Upside: No smell at all, easy to stack and reseal. A perfect packing job. 10 points.

Appearance & Stems (10 pt.):
Finely cut, moist but far from wet with no stems which is a sign of careful leaf selection. 10 points.

Smell & Taste (40 pt.):
The smell was exactly that of the Tang drink mix. The taste was the same as the smell and was with no aftertaste. Frankly this flavour while no unpleasant is nothing I would seek out or recommend. Session lasted about 60 minutes before taste faded. Upside: Smell and taste remained constant during the session. 20 points

Smoke & Mouth Feel (10 pt.):
Smoke amount was massive, colour was white and texture was light. More mouth feel would have been a plus but the huge amount of smoke was a bonus. 7 points

Valve (30 pt.):
I got this for $9.50 which strikes me as a good value although given the flavour is not to my tastes I canít really recommend this product. 23 points.

Total Score: 70 points
