Smoke it, smoke it, smoke it.

Hookahs were made to be smoked. Without smoking it you're denying it it's purpose.

Think of it this way: If your father gave you a '63 corvette, would you refuse to clean it or drive it? Hell no! That machine was made to tear up the pavement. This hookah was made to tear up the moassel. Do it.

I would like to add that if it were mine, I'd keep the patina on the outside. It's rustic and beautiful, I don't know if removing it would damage the value or not, but it shouldn't affect smokability at all.

i agree also with not smoking it and keeping it as an artifact piece.... plus when smoking it, it might not be history your smoking it could be the rust making your lungs into history!! LOL!!!

I say leave the outside tarnished and clean the inside. I mean after all, it could be the most amazing hookah ever crafted and smoke so well it makes the new KM's and AF's look to shame. With that kind of possibility... the temptation to open pandoras box (in this case using the hookah) would be inevitable temptation. Smoke that history.

I agree here, keep the patina on it, thats all the years of history built up on it. But I would definitely say smoke it, at least once. That is an amazing piece.

Everyone's saying "don't smoke it", but I'm curious as to why... So long as it's clean there should be no problem. It looks to me like the inner stem is brass or copper, so tarnish shouldn't have any negative health effects. And the hookah shouldn't be harmed at all by careful use and cleaning.

It was made to be smoked. Smoke the hell out of that pipe! Probably smokes like a dream.

I agree with the others, don't clean and use it. Keep it as its been and use it as decor or something. If it's really that old then its a part of your family history. Keep it in its current state.
