Default Hookah John trimetal windcover

A couple weeks ago i got the HJ Tri-Metal wind cover and it was perfect and now after some sessions the top of the windcover is starting to turn a metallicy light blue color, probably due to heat. but the cover sill works well and that counts, and i guess the color adds character, but has anyone else experienced this?

insert sweet new smiley faces here:

I would guess its gonna do that due to the heat and chemical coming off the coals. Probably looks pretty cool.

The metal might just be starting to oxidize, try using a stain-removing brass cleaner. In my opinion, the very best product in this category is Twinkle.

It works for polishing your stem as well. You can also try soaking the windcover in a mixture of salt and vinegar for a little while. Careful, it's very abrasive.

it doesnt really look like oxidization but ive never seen brass in the early stages of oxidization, and its only at the top closest to the coals not the bottom

It's just a theory Try rubbing the top with toothpaste and see if it changes the colour.

It is heat induced oxidation, which is a slightly different chemical reaction than oxidation that occurs with exposure to room temperature air. You can get rid of it by removing the surface layer but you will also risk removing the plating/painting.

Your quad metal cover is now becoming a quint metal cover.

I have the same one and it has not changed color at all. I'm sure you can clean it off though.
