Default how do you heat up your ql's

Right now I'm heating my coals with a torch lighter but it takes a while. If I heat them up on the stove will I start a fire because of the sparks?

Walgreen's has a single coil burner for $10 (sometimes on sale for $8) that works really well.

I used to use a small torch that I used to use for my cigars but now I just use one of these

it's a bit over kill but I'll line up 2-3 ch ql's and hold the flame on for about 3 secs and the coals do the rest.

Outdoors, of course.

I light ******* Hookah Naturals with one of those coil burners. I try to light them outside whenever possible. It's not that CH Naturals smell terrible, but they can leave an odor when first lit. Once they're lit, they burn very clean and odor-free.

EDIT - Sorry, missed the QL part.

I use a coil burner (from Walgreens) for CH nats and ql. It works great. Just takes maybe 3 minutes to heat up enough to ignite the ql. Takes maybe 10 min to completely light the nats for use (best estimate ).

thanx I'll probably go I would this weekend because lighting them with a torch lighter takes a while and I'm not very patient

You're good, go ahead and throw those quicklights on the burner.. Let them ash over fully before you put them on your pipe.. And I'm unsure what you mean by start a fire by doing that because of the sparks... Just make sure nothing with close proximity is flammable, and keep an eye on them.

Get a hand torch. NOT a torch lighter. Big difference. A good hand torch will run you $30-$50 depending on how fancy you want to be. Point is I use a $30 dollar hand torch that runs off butane and has about a 3" flame that emitted from it so I don't have to have my hand right next to coal to light it. Pretty nice and well worth the money.

I use a butane torch for soldiering in a metal bowl under the stove hood. It is just as fast as the gas stove burner and does not get gunpowder all over my stove. Since I had QL's, I just switched to Naturals tonight! lol

What kind of QLs are you using? I've NEVER had a problem lighting them with a regular lighter. I place it under there for about 10 seconds and the gun powder ignites the entire thing within minutes. I have an ash around it within 3-5 minutes.

I only used ******* QL's 90% of the time and some other QL's once in a while for over a year. About 8 months ago I went out and bought a Walgreens coil burner and bought a box of Coconaras and haven't turned back. I still use ******* QL's on occasion and I light them on the burner and it couldn't be easier. I also use ******* Naturals too but I prefer Coconars over any other coal. Anyway prior to having a burner I used a torch lighter, nothing else would work. If I didn't switch I was about to buy a Blazer torch which can also do small soldering and other things.

you can light ql's with a normal lighter if you want, but you should really invest into getting natural coals

When I used to use QL's I just take a bic or Zippo to it to get the accelerate gets going and let that go. After that I wait for the coals to start to cherry and I fan them to get them fully lit and ashed over.
