Default Getting the best flavor?

How can you get the best possible flavor out of your shisha? I smoked some HH Strawberry, and it wasn't very strong. I'm not sure if it's the shisha, or if I'm dong something wrong.

Sometimes it's the tobacco. Some are stronger than others. How do you pack your bowls? How many coals do you generally use?

Yeah AF strawberry is the best "jam" like strawberry. Very good... And coaxing good flavor out of any tobacco depends on: the bowl, the coals, heat management, the tobacco and if there's ice in the base... I'd say with Hookah Hookah, if you want the absolute best flavor as they intend it to be smoked use a VORTEX BOWL, no ice in the base, two coals and a wind cover.. Those yield the best clouds and full flavor every time

I just sprinkle the tobacco in until it's all even with the rim(regular clay bowl), and use 2 natural exoticas.

ice in the base does nothing for the flavor in my opinion. in fact i think it takes away from the flavor. i use slightly warm water to smoke with unless its outside in teh cold i use cold water because i dont want to crack the glass

I don't find any difference in flavor with or without ice in the base...

jDizzy, I never pack my bowls loosely and sprinkled in.. Regardless of what tobacco or bowl I'm using, I sprinkle in layers and pack each layer down with my finger until it's a solid layer just under the rim. The vast majority of people pack their bowls by sprinkling in tobacco, but I honestly don't see the advantages of doing it that way..

That said, you should probably invest in a vortex or phunnel bowl. The holes at the bottom of Egyptian bowls allow the juice to seep out of the bowl, which eventually means sacrificed flavor.

Maybe try different methods of packing or use a different bowl/different configuration of coals.

Hope this helps.

I pack my vortex a bit differently. I put in some, and pack it down on on the bottom and up the sides of the bowl. Then I sprinkle the rest in. The bowl gets really hot so you want to cook as much of the shisha as possible.

Use three coals or two coals and a wind cover. I use room temperature water or a cooler water. Ice water does nothing for me and the ice just melts after a while anyway because of the heat of the smoke.

if your smoking a wet shisha just make sure its mixed really well, when i smoke drier shishas like early grey i go for a more dense pack and this allows the flavor to really come thru

Well, that's essentially how I pack my vortex bowl too, as you may have seen in my how-to video.

My phunnel bowls and egyptian bowls are packed like I mentioned a few posts up and I think it's the best way to do it.

Eh, I've noticed flavor differences with/ without ice in the base.. Flavor is always more pronounced WITHOUT ice. I don't recommend ice..
