Default I'm back + good news + more good news + serious question

Hi i've not posted for ages been really busy lately, I took voluntary redundancy from my last job, risky in this current economic climate I know but I decided to take a chance and looks like it was the right decision, got a good pay out and now got a job that actually looks more promising than the previous job. I've not been on here because I was busy trying to find another job which I've finally managed to secure, took a while and was stressful but was worth it in the end.

Anyway the good news is my wife's expecting so the serious question is what do you guys think about smoking shisha with a pregnant wife around and then later on with a baby in the house? I'm interested to know how the dads at HP go about smoking shisha?

I have to admit i missed being on the forum, I feel that I've been deprived of priceless hookah knowledge but it's good to be back.

AS a father of a one year old son, my wife didn't smoke hookah at all during the pregnancy. She also breast feed for the first you and didn't smoke either Now we smoke out side away from the baby. I wouldn't let her smoke or smoke around her.

Don't let the wife smoke while she is pregnant, and i wouldn't smoke around her either i mean for the 9 months to ensure a healthy babe hit the garage for a smoke. Or do what im doing and designate a smoking room and invest in a high grade vent fan

My wife doesn't smoke shisha, I'm just asking concerning myself. Also smoking outside is not practical for me because I'm from the north of England were it's really cold almost all year round so I need to know about smoking inside and possible harms of passive smoking from shisha by my wife who's pregnant and then later on the baby? Or is it not harmful because there's no tar?

My wife and I are expecting also and I still smoke inside, she will set in the liveing room and I set in the dining room. We can see each other and talk but I do not set in the same room, also in between the two rooms we have an Ionic air purifier (it will remove smoke) that I set faceing her and turn on. I will probably do the same thing when our baby is born during cold times during warm days I will be outside.

Yes second hand shisha smoke can be harmful but its your choice I wouldn't smoke in the house around my wife. If you have a room in your house that as it own vent to the outside that would be okay. Just my 2 cents.

I have a 10yr old and a 4yr old. I don't smoke in the house until they're in bed, and that's just in the winter. In the summer I do the bulk of my smoking on the porch. Weather permitting.Considering the infrequency of hookah smoking(it's not like we're puffin' 24/7) the risks are reduced compared to a consistent cigarette smoker. But smoke is harmful nonetheless and that should always be a consideration. Congrats on the new gig and the baby btw!! Nice to have ya' back as well!

Wait till the baby is born and then blow as much smoke in his face as you can..............
Joking, joking, i would not recommend smoking anywhere near your wife while she is pregnant

I almost never smoke indoors so I don't really worry about it. BUT, if I did, I wouldn't smoke in house.

If wifey comes outside she doesn't stay for long(5min, 10min max).

Overall I don't think it's a good idea to smoke with either of them in the house. Unless you smoke in a seperate room with the door close and a towel at the bottom but always keep a window open.

I have a six year old and I don't smoke in the house. Well, the basement in the winter. But only when she's asleep on the second floor.

Given that the whole second hand smoke thing is basically bullshit when it comes to cigarettes it's worth mentioning that in terms of normal (i.e. washed fruity type stuff) moassel second hand smoke is totally irrelevant in terms of health. See: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti...4/?tool=pubmed

Be sure to clean the house thoroughly as the tobacco smoke settles like dust and is not healthy for the wife and child either. I would say this is the end of you smoking in the house for a few years, ;0).

Congrates on the fatherdom.

i would treat it like any other form of tobacco to be safe.

sounds like its time for you to build a smoking room with its own air system and a good envelope from the rest of the house. every cigar smoker's dream

supposedly 3rd hand smoke (smoke residue) has been found to be bad now, ya hookah isnt burned but there is still residue (if you ever wiped out a washable hose that wasnt washed for a while you've seen the residue)

hajo, please explain to me how secondhand smoke in a home is not bad to others, smoking is bad (yes it has been made to seem a lot worse than it really is but its not good for you) but to say the same smoke that is bad for the smoker is fine for someone right next to them is stupid

I wait until my son is asleep and I never smoke inside. The wife and I smoke outside even if really cold...just wear extra clothes, a blanket, make a fire, whatever it takes to not have him inhale smoke.

While respect everyone's decisions about what to do or not do around kids I can't resist saying that the dangers of second hand cigarette smoke is wildly over stated to the point that the whole subject is really a matter of annoyance rather then health threats. moassel smoke has absolutely zero risk in terms of secondary exposure. Still, if not smoking in the home produces domestic tranquility then by all means don't smoke in the house. Personally I prefer smoking outside even in cold weather but it's a personal matter of taste and circumstance.

Congratulations, congratulations, and welcome back.
Listen to your heart. If you feel that smoking around your pregnant wife may entice her to smoke, or even feeling guilty around your unborn child then don't smoke around her. What you can do is either smoke outside or set up a designated hookah room and install a air purifier.

being a dad means more sacrafice on your end, in many ways. get some good snow clothing and start smoking outside. or you can smoke in the house when mom and baby go out. my 2 cents, and it's easy for me to say, since i live in socal.
welcome back,
John
